View Full Version : SG phone trick

I saw this on board X and felt it was such a huge SGT it would have been a crime not to share. To top things off, the SG stated on another post she was leaving board X for awhile because of all the negativity.

Ha! I am sure the people in reservations got nothing better to do that take phone calls from people just wanting to chat. No wonder people have problems getting resservations.

Do they really have a sales quota like that?

You know what bothers me about that thread? The vitriol of the posters on that thread. I was looking around the board and wow, wee, they have some nasty posts in that board! Seriously, we want our kids to stop bulling other kids, but we don't set up an example. The way we attack complete strangers just because we can, it's a little unsettling...

Honestly, I can't imagine being happy by calling a call center, but if that's her thing, and it brings her joy, then you know... more power to her. It's a waste of time IMHO, and some of those people do work on commission. However, with all the negativity, aggressive behavior, and bad things happening in the world I thing folks need to learn to appreciate the small things in life.

The whole thread has way too much vitriol in it... It's a little disturbing to be honest, and those are the people that visit the park... Yikes!

that is sort of the essence of this site, isn't it?

I agree, Tink, the meanness and negativity on that board is horrible! I was once a regular there but stopped visiting when I was accused of endangering my child because I went on rides while pregnant. UGH Not worth my time.

Allow me to make myself clear.

That thread specifically is really mind blowing to me because it's not that the poster is doing something astronomically stupid, she makes an off hand comment and wants to know if someone does the same. Whether she knows or not that the people in that center work on commission is not an issue since it's not an information I expect her to know. In fact she's not supposed to know. She enjoys talking to someone at Disney and whenever she has an excuse she calls. My problem is the rude manner that some posters replied to her. One recommends therapy, others are quite rude in pointing out some facts. Look I get it those people work on commission and last thing they need is someone calling for things they can probably find in a website. However, I'm sure that someone could have pointed out this fact to her without being mean.

Yes I post in here, but we (or I do it at least) post because I'm frustrated with guests. I must vent when you tell people six times not to jump the rope and yet they keep on doing it. On the seven time they fall and then they yell at you. You tell them that Tinkerbell is not in Pixie Hollow and yet they insist on doing the line because their application says she is there. Dealing with people is very frustrating and you either vent or implode.

I'll give you an example. A couple of months ago someone in non-related Disney site pointed out that Aurora's hair needed some shine. The whole thing disintegrated in them making fun of the 'horrible costumes' that Disney has and the way some people look in them. I had a very good laugh, and I have no problem with them poking fun at us. However, had someone recommended therapy, diet, or liposuction I would have been a little disturbed by it. I had no problem with them poking a little fun at people.

I think the world needs more people that can poke good clean fun at not only themselves, but also at others. Criticism doesn't have to be a bad thing. Did that make sense?

let ME be clear.

Nothing that is posted on board x, y or z surprises me.

it is in their nature to be complaining about anything they can think up. Trying to post anything contrairy to their way of thinking will incur their ire, and most probably get you worse.

One of the reasons that we call them board x (or y, or Z) is that they WON"T come here and try and "correct" our way of thinking, like they try and do over there.

there is an old story about never trying to teach a pig to sing.

that lesson has merit.

I think you've all done well at walking the line without crossing it. That said, remember that not everyone on Board (insert your letter here) is a SG, just as not everyone in the park is a SG.

I am sure it is unnecessary, but please play nice. We've all seen these threads get nasty quickly, and we all take great pride in the fact that we have a community here in which locking a thread is rare.

As you were.

Actually I was agreeing with Tink in that while we do comment negatively on SG's (and they deserve it) we are mostly pretty civil to EACH OTHER. Over there, some of those folks just attacked the OP instead of ignoring her reasonably stupid comment.

Since this has become a bit of a love fest, I'll chime in and agree with everyone. I know this site was originally designed for the CM's to vent. You very graciuosly allowed the general public (such as myself) to join in. Since I have started coming here, I have always felt welcomed, and never ridiculed.

I have already made plans to meet a member of this board on my upcoming visit, and I'm extremely excited about it, not because it is a CM, but because I feel like I have come to know everyone on this board just a little.

Having said all that, can we please get back to basing SG's, it helps my day pass quicker. :p:

Agreed!!! Like kcberlin, I feel like I have come to "know" some of you very well. I know Hobie hasn't chimed in here yet, but his advice has actually helped me very much in my "real" life. Also, I can relate on a certain level with the CMs because I deal with the public as well (more so since I changed jobs in February) and, very recently, I've gotten a lot of what we here would call Stupid Guest Comments (I'll share later). I count myself lucky and feel very fortunate to have such a great group of friends that don't ridicule me for my thoughts.

Tink...one of my Christmas wishes is for you: to have that stupid app destroyed....less stress for you that way!

Oh man, you listen to me? Even my kids think I'm an old gas passer who's only good for opening up his wallet. I'm so scatter brained that I turned a lecture on the principles of sailing (air foils, lift, sail shape, stuff like that) into how to play a basic rock beat on drums. I had the whole class beating out some pretty good rhythm on the tables within five minutes.

Run while you still have your sanity. I'm the crazy uncle your parents keep an eye on. I'm the guy that gets roped into baby sitting all the kids when the wives, whose husbands have decamped for four days of Animal Camp, decide they're going out for ladies light and then wonder why the kids are bouncing off the walls and where did all the soft drinks and cookies go and how come they're all belching so loud.

I am not to be trusted.

Thanks for the big welcome. Very cool graphic.

Don't worry about them stealing it. Too much back stabbing going on for them to think of it.

I work in health care. I wish we had a place like this to vent. Oh, the books we could write if it wasn't for the damn HIPAA laws. Also have a very close friend that owns resorts in Branson, MO. Seems SG are everywhere! If you ever want to branch out to non-WD places, I'm sure he'd be in.

UBR: We do have a board for other theme parks. We'd love to get some fresh stories!

I did see that thread. It seemed nutty to me, but at least she seems to try to call with a valid question. I admit, I like making reservations over the phone vs. online, but that's just me. I wouldn't call them just because I was feeling blue.

Calling them just to chat does seem a bit rude, to the person on the phone, and those who are trying to get through the system so that they can make their reservations.

I understand the OP's sentiments. The attacks after the initial comment are what was rediculous.

I've been reading through posts on here and that's what impressed me. No matter how cynical (I am one) the person or how "stupid" the trick, nobody seems to attack anyone else.

Finally a board where people have common sense AND a sense of humor. (Don't worry, I won't tell anybody) ;)

Amazing what people will do or try when they are away from home, but I'm not telling you anything.I used to drive Disney buses. You might be amazed at some things I have seen, and there are others here who have seen much more.I've been reading through posts on here and that's what impressed me. No matter how cynical (I am one) the person or how "stupid" the trick, nobody seems to attack anyone else. That is because we mods are fair but brutal. Now, I get to use a violent smiley here. Oh, which one to use? Okay. I'll use several. We mods use these on each other several times a day in the Mod Lounge, just for practice.

:angrymob: :acidbath: :bikehit:  :boil: :bomb: :choke: :feedback: :electchr: :funthing: :flamethro :driveby: :godzilla: :fridge: :voodoo: :brazilia: :machine: :sharkbait :snufomat: :tgv: :xformer: :buttkick: :guilloti: :laser: :steamroll: :chipper:

All the violent smilies depicted here represent things we've actually done to those who were banned from the boards. You do *not* want to get on our bad side. Since so few have been banned, it was really bad for each of them, and much of what we did counts as :deadhors: abuse of a corpse. Sometimes we will call in the :flybongo: flying bongos that shoot their quills, and if you're really bad I'll :rufus: show up to the forum nekkid.

We keep the :trolspra: at the ready at all times.

But in all seriousness, I call this site the back deck of the theme parks, so we do like to keep it friendly. Very friendly. :buttkiss: But not THAT friendly. And sometimes not family friendly. To that end, sometimes we bring in hired help: :flasher::chipenda:

So enjoy your stay at Stupid Guest Tricks. If I didn't offend anyone with this post, I guess I can get away with anything I want to say, right?

Please note, no past forum users were injured or killed in the making of this post (sorry to Shorty82 who was maimed a couple times for testing purposes), though your brain cells will be if you read it the whole way through. I guess I should have put this at the TOP of the post. Oh, well. Too late now.
