ok so i work the Haunted Mansion (yay!) And i love it so!!! Anyway... the other day a guest asked me how fast pass worked and then got all excited about it and wanted to go get one for splash mountain. They were already out of passes and there was no one manning the FP area so she came back to yell at me. I asked her if there was anything i could do for her and offered to let her in the FP line for mansion, but no, she wanted to yell. She got all mad and started swearing in front of her little kids and all. I asked her to please not use that language because there were other peoples children around and she should at least be courteous to those around her and she totally flipped out and went off and told me that she remembered when the CMS at DL used to be nice. I plainly told her that i remember that when i come in as a guest that im not RUDE. She stormed off and i havent heard whether or not she gave me a complaint but it'd be the first time and heck, ill put it up next to my 4 guest compliments and 7 mouskarmulah lol :o)
Im sure there are more of you out there that feel like being nice sometimes ends you in a dispute ...

Have you worked Nightmare yet? I got all but spit on working that. Oh wait... I did get spit at.
The other day I was at Carrousell and this hag tried to ride twice so I just explained that I had a full load that if she wanted to ride again just to wait in line that it was about a 10 minute wait. She then proceeds to rip her kid off the horse and then tell him that she was sorry I made him cry because I wouldn't let him ride him again. I then said that I wasn't the one who made a promise I couldn't keep and she made him cry because she was a hag.
Oops. There's my inside voice and my oustide voice getting confused again!

I also love it when a parent promises a child that they can go on a ride that has a height restriction, and the child is too short. I once had a parent ask if he could sign a waver so his child, who was probably 38", go on the ride. Usually they use the line "We came all the way from. . . . to go on this ride. Once I had somebody ask me "Does Disney pad the height restriction?" These people will do anything so that their children can go on these rides, including stuffing the children's shoes.

I think it's utterly pathetic that someone would go to Disneyland JUST for one ride.
A couple weeks back I happened to be at the Splash Mountain photo shop after park closing time when some guy was complaining to the lead there. His sob story was that they came all the way from wherever to get their picture on Splash, and it got deleted for whatever reason. And since it was after closing time, they couldn't go on the ride again. Boo freakin hoo! Aside from being a completely pathetic reason to come to Disneyland, if that picture really meant so much to them, why the hell did they wait all the way until closing time to go on the ride?! :bang:

I think I remember when that has happened one time before. I still love it when they are 6" too short and say that they went on it yesterday. Once I looked that that parent and said that if that is correct you should complain that the CM wasn't doing their job, and be happy that we are now.

I'm always tempted to reply with, "Well since your from 'insert location here', let me leave my position, run into the ride and personally fix what we don't know what's wrong with the ride just so you can ride it because you came to the Disneyland Resort for one ride!" but it's a little TOO sarcastic. It's ok to be sarcastic if the guests don't understand your sarcasm. However, if you go too far, it could cost you a guest complaint.

Having spent my entire working life up until my recent hire at DLR working in *shudder* RETAIL, I can tell you that this type of guest / customer mentality is very, very common. It is also one of my biggest pet peeves!
What happens is, people will want something, and that desire will be blocked by an obstacle that is absolute. A good example is wanting to go on a ride that is being refurbished, like Space Mountain. Another more common example would be wanting to take home a product that is not in stock. I say again, the product is NOT in stock, simply meaning, it just is not there -- it's an absolute truth! Yet, the guest / customer will come in, and ask for said product, and you'll tell them it is out of stock. They'll then proceed to argue with you about it. In retail, the most common line will be "But I need this for my business!". (Of course, EVERYONE owns their own "business" when you work in retail, but that's a whole other story) When that fails to produce the item in the store, they will continue to scream at you that they MUST have that item today. When that doesn't work, they demand to speak to your manager, then to the corporate office.
This mentality, that arguing against an absolute truth will change it, DRIVES ME GODDAMN INSANE!!!! :bang: <--- See that? I have literally done that over these stupid fucking people.
If I worked attractions, I imagine I'd lose my cool really fast when someone started with the "We came all the way from __________ to ride this". I'd probably say back something like, "Well then, you're going to go all the way back to ________ pretty goddamn pissed. Have a magical fucking trip home."

Where are these people from? Outside the US? Outside the PLANET? I mean, really, humiliating yourself and your children just so they can get on a damn ride is just low on a parent's behalf.
I was working pooh corner & I was having a splendid conversation with a guest that was just a delight :D . Out of nowhere another guest comes up to me & butts into our conversation like the other guest is not even there :hammer: & asks where's the bathroom. No excuse me & no apology. Rude, rude, rude. I stopped what I was saying to the other guest & advised the lady with child in tow where the restroom was. Some people have no consideration for others or their children!

It ususally seems as if it's the SAME kind of people who will just butt in to conversations. . . .kids, or bi-lingual parents, in which they use their other language at home (their accents are strong enough!).
Example 1: I was working at Pioneer one night, and was wrapping fragile stuff for a guest. A woman comes up to my cashwrap from the side, and rudely says "excuse me. . . " Well, being the little sh*t I am, I chose to ignore her for the moment, since I was STILL HELPING SOMEONE! Not even 10 seconds later, she SLAPS her hand down on the glass, seriously sounded like she could have cracked it with her rings. She yells "EXCUSE ME! I AM TALKING TO YOU! I HAVE BEEN WAITING!" I looked at her and said I will be with her in just a moment. She says "no, I've been waiting here for 5 minutes" BULL! So I looked at her and told her I would help her just as soon as I'm finished. When I finished with the current guest I was helping, the next guest in line tried to come up to the cashwrap, when that woman just CUT him off, and proceeded to put her merchandise on the table. I looked at her and told her the line is behind her, and that she needs to wait in that line. She looks at me and says "NOOOO. . .ju said ju would h'elp me after ju were dunn." I told her I didn't realize she was ready to purchase, and that I thought she had a question. Yeah. . her question was "can I pay dis?" Well, I told her she can wait in the appropriate line like everyone else.

Like it says in my profile...it's always but he just rode (insert attraction name here) why can't he ride here. Or..oh this isn't that bad..what if I just hold him/her/it ? Look...if it was ok to hold him/her/it..I would have said so.Yeeesh......!
My least favorite thing to do when I was a CM was closing Dumbo. One person would pull a trash can in the entrance, while others would stand around the outside of the queue so people wouldn't duck under the chains, and another would follow the line, so no one could get in line behind him/her.
Every night I did this I would continuously have people coming up to me, trying to get in line. Then of course they would get furious when I told them that it was closed for the night, and scream at me for ruining their child's day. The extremely rude ones would push their kids at me, making tell the kids no, just so I look like the bad guy. Or say to me, "My Johnny just HAS to ride this! It's the only thing he wants to do, and we're leaving tomorrow!"
Okay, so if Dumbo was that important to your kid, WHY on earth didn't you make some sort of effort to go on it before closing the night before you leave? If it mean that much to their kid, they should have sucked it up and waited in line.

The other day at Knott's, my 7 year old and I were already aboard Montezooma's Revenge when the CM asked if he could check my daughter's height. I said "yeah, man, please do". She was just fine, being about 1 inch taller than the requirement. When they got back, he was kind of trying to explain that they had to check, etc, and I thanked him for checking. He looked at me and said "thats the first time anybodies ever thanked me for that!" I told him I knew it was a safety issue, and I dont want my kid dying just because I wanted her to ride. In my opinion, people who cheat to take their kids on dangerous machinery should be put in prison. Also, its THE CM's call wether or not my kid and I get to ride. It is NOT A GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO RIDE! If I dont fit into the restraints, I DONT GET TO RIDE! Period! If my kid isnt tall enough, they DONT RIDE! Period! I wish that guests would understand this simple fact, it would sure make everyone's experience a lot more pleasant.

The Matterhorn just opened up and we are all excited that it opened, but one CM has promised 20 bucks to the first person to get a defined butt cheek stuck in the gates. So far I've seen a kids head get stuck and I've hit a few people in the groin after I told them to step back. Good times for us all. There's something for everyone to be thankful for, more stupid guests to laugh at.
I"LL DO IT! what day will he/she be there, i'll practice it at indy!
Please tell me it'll hit a lift stop, or at least a station stop if i do that, oooo, and i'll do it like five times in a row so that you get masive station backup and have to go 101, Matterhorn cascades right?

Ok so I'm out at Gatekeeper yesterday when this pin trading couple walks passed me into the queue. I'm talking full vests covered in pins and the like.
Well a few seconds after that I kind of sense somebody behind me, and suddenly this woman is unhooking my tie from my costume! I pull back and ask "Can I help you?" to which she replies, "I want your tie.".
I was in utter disbelief. Did this lady honestly believe she could just take an article of my clothing?! Keep your god damn hands to yourself.

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or jump on this one...I'm sure 'cutting in line' has been covered somewhere in here before, but I just wanted to share this story.
First, I don't work at the parks, but I do work at the Studio in Burbank. Before I worked for Disney, I used to be a Annual Passholder and I always tried to be smart and conscientious when visiting Disneyland. I hate people who check their brains at the gate...so finding this site is fantastic, and validates for me that people on vacation are idiots.
ANYWAY...about a year ago my wife and I decided to take advantage of our Silver Passes and visit the park. It was packed but we still decided to stay and make a day of it. Around the middle of the day we got in the VERY long line for Matterhorn. At around the 'break' where the exiting riders cross the people waiting, we saw this white trash couple standing VERY near but outside the line. As soon as we crossed the break, the stepped in behind us, then motioned for the rest of their family (5 in all) to join them! We looked at the couple who HAD been behind us, but they only shrugged.
Well, my wife, not having had her coffee yet, looked at the line-cutters and said very loudly, "Don't you feel bad for cutting in front of everyone?" The young white-trash girl just scowled at my wife and said, "I don't know what you're talkin' about! We've been here the whole time!"
At that, I pulled out my Disney ID and flashed it at them, saying, "I work for the company. I can have you ejected from the park!"
Upon seeing my ID, they were taken aback, then mocked me saying "Ooooh, work for Disney!...ooooo!" as they left the line!
The people around us clapped a little, and the guy in front of us asked, "Do you really work for Disney?"
After years of being a non-disney employee and putting up with rude people at the park, it was nice to flex my company muscle, even a little.

When they start swearing at me, I'd like to stare at them blankly– then say the following:
"It is truly a sad day when a persons vocabulary outgrows their intellect."
Then wait to see if they -really- listened. Most times I don't think they'd hear what was said (they are too busy with their head in an aweful place)- if they have heard, I wonder if we would gotten an apology or two. Hehe. *smacks guest*

If I told all the times I've encountered rude guests at Knott's, I'd be here the rest of my life. One incident sticks out in my mind, though. Last year, I was forced to do HC (handicapped) at Ghostrider, taking HC guests up and down on the elevator. Anyway, I was answering a guest's question, and this Filipino woman comes up to the gate, taps her map rapidly on the gate, and butts into my conversation with the first guest. Excuse me, but didn't anybody ever teach you to wait your turn when you see someone talking to someone else? And don't tap your map or anything else on the gate to get my attention--I'm not your fucking dog! I didn't say that, but sure felt like it. So I said excuse me to the first guest, answered the second one's question, and when she's gone I remark to the first guest on her rudeness, and he agreed. What's really stupid about Ghostrider HC is they have a sign out front that says to go to Ghostrider Goods across the midway for assistance. I asked an area manager why they had to stick me there when there was a sign sending them to Ghostrider Goods, and was told that the people there aren't certified to operate the elevator! Funny how I don't recall taking any kind of certification to operate the elevator! Oh, well, I got suspended/fired last Thursday for--are you ready?--going to the bathroom! I was on a final for the same thing--take it from me, if you think it's bad at Disneyland, try Knott's! In fact, there's a website, accessible through Yahoo!, called www.kbfdrama.com that you should check out. If you use AOL, you may have trouble posting. And KBF's IT and HR spy on it all the time, trying to figure out who everyone is. And you have to use the initials of the people you're talking about (I'm catcuddler over there). Anyway, I am so glad to be out of that hellhole!

Happens all the time. The one that used to always make me mad was when there would be no CMs at some of the smaller counters at the Emporium that had 2 registers and the guests would still stand there expecting to be rung up. Would you do that at a department store? No, you'd go to a counter where someone is working.
Of course, that would take logic, and we all know that that's too much to expect of our guests.

i work for americawest/usairways and almost every day i deal with some of the rudest people on the planet. We always have passengers who get angry when their too late to check in for their flights. They always give some sob excuse on why they need to be on that particualr flight. i think i have heard it all. They need to be on the flight because they are getting married, they are going to funeral, they are witnessing a batism, they have to go a multi million dollar meeting, they have to perform surgury. If you have something so important going on in your life perhaps you should arrive at the airport a little earlier than 15 minutes before departure.
People just get so angry with us when it their damm fault for coming so late for the airport.
We had a lady who hadn't even bought her ticket and was demanding that sell her a ticket and check her in for a flight that was leaving in 10 minutes. she claimed we wouldn't sell her a ticket because she was black. Then she starting swearing at our manager and told him that she hoped that his mother would be killed in a plane crash. she was swearing worse than a sailor and she had two young children. Where is cps when you need them.
Rude Rude.
