After 6 days of park hopping and 10 hours of driving (broken up with a stay in Gainesville last night) I've forgotten most of them. The interstate is so full of stupid drivers (Really? You're going to come to a dead stop in the Northbound lanes for an ambulance that's in the Southbound lanes?) that it overwhelms the SGs at the parks.

The ones I can remember.
1) standing in line at Space Mountain. 25-30 yo SGDad to 6-8 y.o. son "I bet you'll scream like a little b***h."

2) At AK outside Outfitters, "We're heading to Dino-land..." pronounced DEENo-land. No idea if she expected the Flintstones or Dean Martin to be the focus.

3) Sunday afternoon, SWW at Studios. Couple walks into 50's Primetime at 2:15 pm, walks out, wife mumbling..."I didn't think we'd need reservations for lunch"

4) on Monorail from TTC to MK, looking at Grand Floridian "I'm not sure what that one is...Carribbean Beach, I bet."

5) On Pirates, boat behind us, 4-5 people in first 2 rows continually sparking flash bulbs throughout entire ride

6) in line at Splash. Lady in front of me, with group of 5 or so. 2 men leave line and hand her the "red time card" (I don't know what the name for them is...perhaps I will learn something from this thread). A minute or so later, she looks at me and asks me (in broken English, so I'll translate)
Her: Can you tell me how to use this?
Me: Yeah, you just give it to the Cast member before you board.
Her: *empty look in eyes*
Me: They use it to measure the wait times
Her: *continued empty look*...So...no benefit?
Me: *big smile* Just a big smile from the CM.
Her: *sour look on face, turns forward in line*

A few minutes later as we near FP/standby merge, I notice the card is no longer in her hand and don't see it anywhere on her or ppl in her group. I'm guessing it is now on foreign soil.

I'll have to remember some of the better ones.
Had a great time, Cast members were great, but I could see the frustration, especially on loading areas and at people not having FPs available to turn over to 2nd FP CM. I'd have a hard time not ad libbing from the official script in that situation.

Last year my 2 best friends and I were out at Disney Studios. I forgot to make lunch reservations at 50's prime time cafe. All of us went in and 30 minutes later we got to eat dinner. I am guessing we went on a slow day. I think it was a Monday.

Making the reservations is smart ahead of time. If it is slow, some places will let you come in a dine. If there is a line out the door and the wait is 45 minutes to 2 hours, no chance. :o:

An people ask me why I sometimes hate parents (I'm a parent myself) and dislike adults. Parents can, and many times are, the most destructive part of a child's life. Working at WDW has convinced me that not everyone that wants to have a kid should.

We did our trip towards the end of Oct 2009. The crowds were not bad either. We stayed at the Regal Sun and walked to Down Town Disney and got to the buses to the resorts. We had our daily walk. We also were there for the food and wine festival. That was allot of fun and we ended up at Epcot each evening to watch Illuminations. :)

Food and Wine Festival is a great time to be there. Crowds in October seem to get larger and larger, but wait times are still excellent.

I remembered another one last night, but I've forgotten it now....oh yeah.

Stayed at AKLodge and we're waiting at the MK bus stop to head back to hotel. we were very front of the line with a full row and a half of people behind us, waiting for bus to arrive.
Family of 8 comes walking up next to us, through the wheelchair aisle- with no one in wheelchair and skipping everyone else in line- to stand beside us.

As my family and myself are standing there, they begin talking with themselves. Little 2-4yr old offspring "Susie" (balloon in one hand, ice cream in the other) decides to walk out to the white line where the bus aims to stop. Now, the bus isn't arriving just yet, but who's to stop her from going out into the road as the other buses arrive? ....After 30-40 seconds of her standing there, I'm thinking I'm gonna have to do it myself (knowing full well that if I do, SG mom or dad is going to assault me for it) so I wait another 10 seconds and look over to SG mom who without moving from her place in family group finally raises her voice to just above normal talking range and says nothing more than, "That's not were you're supposed to go. You come back here." Little "susie" finally walks back to group and bus arrives.

After getting on bus, I look around to see where little balloon girl is (after hearing front desk CM tell us that no balloons are allowed at AKL). I don't see her or her family. I ask my BIL and Dad if they got on. They laugh and say that when the bus arrived and had AKL as the destination, SG mom and dad asked if this was the bus to the parking lot and where they could find the bus to get there.

We spent the first weekend in June at WDW, stayed at BLT. Had a wonderful time.

Although he ended up not being a SG, on our way back from MK Saturday evening (to BLT) a man walking along with us (in a red shirt! LOL) asked, "So, how did you all know to wear red?"

He really was a nice guy, but that was a pretty funny question.

Hate the SG with the flash on the dark rides. POC was a real trial with three of them in the boat with us flashing all over the place.

Yup. All names must be acronyms (even "a la carte", though none of us can remember what it is), and it's preferable that they also be the name of a character.

Could have done worse than FLIK. Could have named it POCAHONTAS for
"Perpetual On Call Accounting for Hours ON The Asphalt System"! :shaker:

I'll do you one better... An insanely convoluted acronym where one of the letters refers to yet *another* acronym...

At Harvard, the library catalog is HOLLIS: Harvard On-Line Library Information System. (It also fits that one of the big family names in Harvard's history was Hollis)

Well, periodically throughout the day my office gets batch files sent to us from the catalog.
This batch file process is called FETCHERRS: Facility to Enter Through the Catalog in HOLLIS End-user Retrieval Requests from Storage.
I kid you not.....

RADAR = RAdio Detection And Ranging
RADIO = Radiation And Detection by Induced Oscillation

I have a ficticious one from the fifth Alex Rider book Scorpia. In that, there is a criminal organisation called SCORPIA, and the letters SCORPIA stand for "Sabotage, CORruPtion, Intelligence and Assassination"; these are the organisation's main areas of operation.

Sorry, seems I wasn't clear in my challenge.

RADAR includes the acronym RADIO, thus producing a 2-level acronym. My question was if anyone know of a 3-level acronym -- one where the first acronym includes a term that's an acronym, which itself includes a third acronym.

But to stick with the theme, what about CONTROL and KAOS?

Got one three layers deep. This is from a Nuucleeeer Plant, so Homer Simpson related comments are appropriate.

AMSAC - ATWS Mitigation System Actuation Circuitry
ATWS - Anticipated Transient Without Scram
SCRAM - Safety Control Rod Axe Man

The very first reactor had a guy with an axe whose job it was to cut the rope pulling the control rods out in the event of an event.

So there. Three layers deep. Let the adulation begin.:D:

My dad was a pipefitter who helped build a nuclear power plant in northern Colorado, and later he worked at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant outside of Denver. For my 10th birthday he brought home a custom-made metal belt buckle he'd made for me, with my name in brass. At the time I just thought it was cool having something made for me by my dad -- now I think it's really cool having a belt buckle made in a nuclear weapons plant!

Sorry - I was typing too fast! Forgot to check my spelling. My dad is a milwright and basically an all-around construction guy, my gradfather was a foreman with years and years of construction equipment. You know, I think we have some of those belt buckles laying around somewhere, too!

When you fly in from TX, you'll probably see the one near where I live...it's Salem & Hope Creek Nuclear Power Plant. As a matter of fact, PSE&G just requested to purchase an additional 64 acres to build another plant....most people around here aren't happy - I think it's just fine. Better than burning coal any day (although, I would prefer wind energy, but this IS Jersey!).

Neither CONTROL or KAOS are acronyms but rather products of the fertile imaginations of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. On an aside, I saw Bernie Koppel (Siegfried) in one of the last episodes of Monk. Still looked good. Sadly, I think only Bernie, Barbara Feldon (agent 99) and Dick Gautier (Hymie the robot) are still with us. While we're on spy acronyms; what about SMERSH and THRUSH? Best james bond ever! and who could forget that robert shaw played a russian bad guy.

Actually, Grumpy, he was an English assassin for SPECTRE. Rosa Kleb, the female villain, had, in fact, been a SMERSH agent, but she had defected to SPECTRE before the events of From Russia With Love. She was the one who picked Red Grant out to assassinate Bond, with Tatiania Romanova and the Lektor as bait.

(And the fact that I had to use Wikipedia only to get the correct spelling of Lektor shows that this is one of my all time favorite Bond films.)
