Miceage, KFI and Perezhilton.com are reporting rumors that Captain Eo may return to Disneyland this January in memoriam of the late Micheal Jackson. The Honey Theater will be closed this week for a private showing for executives.
Expect an announcment this week at the D23 expo.

I thought they were also talking about updating it, with a different performer as the captain?

Even though I liked MJ as a performer, I don't think the public would take kindly to a show starring a child molester these days. It's too controversial.

I think it could get interesting, because people don't want to speak ill of the dead and what not. Also, many people wouldn't recognize him in Captain EO because it was before he went insane.

Considering the sales of his music and DVDs recently I don't think it will matter much.

Probably it was just one of the sites that mentioned it. I have no opinion on the matter.

I thought the main reason for the "do over" was that the technology had vastly improved since they had made the Captain Eo.
I can think of several other actors that would be better in the part of Captain Eo, the queen, and the other parts.

I did check that out. I belive it returns Jan. 2010 and runs for a year. A tribute to his music. I liked the video and the dancing. George Lucas did a great job for the show. :)
Having seen "Captain Eo", I think I'd prefer to see "Captain Eeyore" in that theater.
Or at least as a pre-show!

It might be fun to see again to remember how goofy we all looked in the 80's

I remember one photo of me from my 1987 HS Yearbook. Picture this:
Me, For those who've seen me, with hair down past my shoulders loose-ish pony tail. jean jacket, covered with buttons varying from Star Wars, To Star Trek to "Kiss me I'm Irish" and "I wanna have Vincent's Kittens" from the Beauty and the Beast tv show... and an armload of notebooks and a backpack on my back because I never trusted combination locks.

TRUE, but there are probably a lot more people that would not want the origional back.
Hmm, now maybe Beyonce as the evil queen?
and use kermit, miss piggy, beaker and the penguins as his crew?

Actually, I think Disney is missing a beat. They should consider bringing back the "older" attractions that have been gone. Updated a bit, but still as close to the origional. I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing the older stuff.

You know, I'm kind of glad that for the foreseeable future, Captain EO isn't coming back.
Don't get me wrong, Captain EO was cool and all, but I'd rather see something new. Going back to the Captain EO film just seems like a step backwards.
Although, I'm all for the Peoplemover returning to Disneyland in some form or another. Its sad to see the unused track. they could make it look snazzier and more futuristic so that it fits in with the more recent look of Tomorrowland, and perhaps some new things for the interior sections of the track.

Call me silly, but instead of a quest for vengence (for something that now hasn't happened yet), wouldn't you put your energy into preventing it rather than torturing the person you blame for it?

It was fun, but a classic "popcorn" movie -- don't think about it too much!

Alright, I know that this is old news. but I just have to say that I never really believed that EO was coming back.
Sure, Disney may have considered it, but all those sources like miceage REALLY jumped the gun--as usual. Plus, I think that wishful thinking had a lot to do with this.
And of course, (as noted earlier, I believe) there was no announcement at all concerning Captain EO at the D23 Expo.
This is why I choose to stay away from sites such as miceage, they always jump the gun and put too much stock into rumors, then they get upset when those rumors don't come true.

I had suspected that it was delayed. Oh well...
A lot of people are excited about Captain EO coming back. I think its pretty cool. Its only supposed to be back for a "limited engagement" anyway.
I would be upset if it were permanent, because again, I feel that it would be a step backwards.

I wouldn't be surprised. The HISTA, yes, I will call it "HISTA" since it was my "first" attraction, roof has a leak in it for years now and it needs to be fixed!! In order to do that, I would suppose that they have to close that part of the Spaec Queue.
