View Full Version : World Drive Closed
This afternoon, all guests exiting the MK parking lot met a big traffic jam just past the CCC. At the next paved turnaround, all were sent back north to go through the toll plaza, then try to squeeze onto Vista Boulevard. Most ugly.
All I could see from the turnaround was a bus and some flashing lights. Radio reported a vehicle fire.
Anyone know what happened? Please don't tell me we lost another fellow CM to a traffic accident!

I heard today that it was an American Coach (company that run the CP buses) bus that went up in flames.

Yup, American Coach caught fire. All CPs and drivers uninjured. Three hours to clear the mess up and get World Drive back open.
This is unrelated to the head on collision with a Watercrafts CM casuality in the early morning hours during Grad Night.

Hey
The last Few Disney buses to burn were a couple of RTS's and a Gillig. We haven't toasted a Nova in quite a while.

No offense taken. I was just defending the Nova. I much prefer to drive them over all else. (and they usually go like hell)
and, yes, I do know about their firery history. :-)

Ah, the Nova. Could have been such a cool bus. When the airbags were properly inflated, it had a wonderful ride. Kneeling system could have been amazing, and you can't beat the visibility (and the fact that when you set the steering wheel and seat just right, you feel like you're driving a race bus). Love the retarder system.
But the way they're made is crap. Which should have changed when Prevost bought them out.

The DoctorHey, there go the resistor banks!
Actually, I was the only Cast Member to SEE them go, there at the Magic Kingdom aboard Orange. Having never seen them go, and having never been told that it could happen, I thought something really bad had happened. Turned out it was all okay. Best part was that the WDW Ambassador team was standing on the platform at the time.
