Looking at screamscape today, I came across this:

Screamscape reader caught an interesting event on his cell phone camera the other night at Epcot as a park guest decided he was going to try to climb to the top of the Mexico pavilion. Making the event a little more scary to guests was the fact that as they got near the top they started to yell “I’m gonna jump!” over and over. Before security or any other CM could arrive on the scene to do anything about it, they quickly climbed down and vanished into the crowd once again. Knowing how fast Disney security usually is, I kind of find it unusual that the crazy climber wasn’t caught. Enjoy the photos.

When I stayed at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. A ground of SG were at the Dig Pool site and decided to climb the parymid and get kicked out after the life guards and security warned them to get off of it. SG Alert!! You are a dummy! If you slip, your are beyond stupid folks!!!

Ktulu, I really like you & all :) but considering you are built like a Steeler's linebacker, the sombrero seems a bit over the top. ;)

I think I would look out of place without it...

I will admit, it is quite tempting to climb the Mexico pavilion...even without alcoholic encouragement. But it's only to use it as a point to sacrifice SGs. I mean, why have a Mayan temple there if you're not going to? It could be a show...

Thanks to this SG (and probably others who haven't been caught on camera), they will probably put up barriers or otherwise fence off the lovely pyramid. Dadburn SGs ruin everything!

It would really work if I hung out at Hollywood Studios in front of The Great Movie Ride :D:

Wouldn't that be like Universal staging an invasion ?? Or at least an incursion ?

You should drop the spiderman, and go for the batman costume!!

I also seem to remember...and I am talking MANY years ago, that batman actually went to Mexico and helped set up a Mexican version of Batman.

I remember it because it was in a comic book, and those are REAL...aren't they??

hehehe

Now, I do admit that some time I do want to watch Illuminations from atop Mexico. But I want to do it from within the confines of the rules.

Actually, there's already a barrier at the bottom of the steps:

(And the guy standing in front of it gives you a decent idea of just how much of a barrier there is before you even GET to the steps...)
Though that wall may or may not be part of the original design...

As for Coronado's pool, the first couple steps are designed to be climbed and sat on, to sit in the waterfall coming down the steps. But they designed "fallen trees/vines" across the stairs that bar you from climbing any higher than those first couple steps.

And BW... You need to make friends with the pyro crew at Epcot. Then maybe you'll get a chance to watch the show from the control booth on top of Mexico...

The corners of the barrier are probably not more than 6 feet high. My 14.5 iinch dog scaled a 5 foot block wall so that cannot be hard for a drunk with good sneakers or hiking boots. Can I borrow your ECV, thank you, and up I go and over the barrier.

So THAT'S what's on top of Mexico! The Epcot pyro crew are certainly nice people, they let me watch Illuminations from the Friend Ship dock on my birthday, so they might just let someone inside Mexico. :)

Or, a little SG kid: "Hey, Dad, can I climb up there?"

SG Dad: "Sure!" (gives kid a boost)

I would love to make friends with the pyro crew at any of the parks just to get a tour of their set-ups. I would invite them out to one of our shows but they would find it really boring. (They have all the cool toys!) Plus, they probably wouldn't have the time off since our biggest shows are on July 4th.
