We were at the World two weeks ago and exiting the resort Monorail at the Magic Kingdom when we ran into someone hawking fesh fruit and bottled water at the bottom on the ramp! The person wasn't wearing a Disney costume and seemed to be a guest. Is this a common experience? Has anyone else ran into this type of thing before?
By the way, my sons and I experienced the behind the scenes train tour.....a great experience and one I would recommend to anyone with any interest in trains or Walt!

I've never heard of that and if the person wasn't wearing a costume and name tag then he wasn't a CM. I doubt Disney would allow anyone to do that so hopefully he got kicked off property by security.

Actually, they do have many healthy options at the parks. They sell small bowls of mixed melon, packs of grapes, etc. and such at several of the kiosks - and nearly every drink cart has bottled water ....

Ah, there is a ODV in Tomorrowland that serves fresh fruit at DL. We love it, although if you looked at me you'd think I was on first name basis with the Churro CM's...

They serve fresh fruit at some of the drink stands in the parks. The one in Town Square right outside Exposition Hall does.

Hey now, it is out doors and they are acting as a vendor selling a product :-P
Fine, a ODVRBTR selling fresh fruit, better ;)

I knew someone would bring that up, and I know that they do, I was just kidding :p:, but back in the day when I was a kid there weren't many healthy snacks for sale, just Coke and Popcorn and Ice Cream. The churros came along later.

Well, we're actually called QSR - Quick Service Restaurants, so the term you're looking for is actually ODVRBQSR :p:.
Talking about this issue brings up a really small SCMT. The first time I worked one of those Fruit Carts, Costuming insisted that I was supposed to wear the Area ODV Costume (I wasn't). Despite the fact that I kept pointing out that there was no need for a QSR Foods CM to wear an apron with such deep pockets (we don't do the whole Cash Handling by hand thing).

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification :) Now we need to update the acronym thread :D:
Now if it had been Coke and fresh fudge....No, no, no! *DIET* Coke and fresh fudge. You gotta save where you can, right?
I actually ordered that combination once, only to have the server ask, "Why?"
I looked her in the eye and asked, "Do you have diet fudge?"
"Er... no."
"That's why."

But as Oscar Wilde said, "the ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit." That is to say, I'm going to steal this and use it myself someday. :D:

Diet Coke and fudge is only a medium-calorie snack!:D:
There is Diet fudge (sugar free) but doesn't quite taste the same- also watch out for the LAXATIVE EFFECT:eek:
