Ignorance must be contagious...
One fine day I was working Hot Dogs 1. Or the hotdog wagon by
Fantasy, when a woman came up to me with her two teenage kids. She
asked me where the roller coaster was with the loop. I replyed "I'm
sorry ma'am but that ride is in DCA." She then told her kids that
it's not in this park. Her daughter decided to step up to the plate
and said "I saw it here 5 minutes ago. Where is it?" Giving the
daughter the benifit of the doubt, I told her it's in DCA which is
across from Disneyland. In hopes that she just saw it from a far. She
then demanded that I tell her where the ride was, as if her being on
that ride would affect me. I nicely explained that it's in the park
across the way. She then began to yell at me and told me she wanted
to ride "the one with the loop". I had enough. I replyed "Well I
guess you're SOL then aren't ya?"
No one ever said I was a nice guy.

That's a pretty nice way for a Castmember to behave. No wonder
attendance is down. Maybe you should find a different line of work. I
don't think Disney is for you.

Hey you know what? Sometimes you have to give them a smack upside the
head to get the stuburn ones to listen. I would have loved to do that
to a guest. I say Hurahh!

Well Cujo
I'm sorry you feel that way. Seems to me like many of you have
forgotten what was taught in Traditions. I can see laughing at the
Guests who are blatenly stupid, but in this case, the remark and use
of the "S" word was inappropriate, even to a bratty kid. I wonder if
the incident was reported at City Hall. I would have.

Its not the cast members who have gotten worse; it is the guests.
Although I would never argue with a guest (its not worth the trouble
and I want to keep up the Show as much as possible), I don't
appreciate being disrespected and yelled at all day. The growing
evil in society as a whole has caused some people to become such
jerks. People like us who deal with all kinds of people every day
are surely destined to become infected with the same evil.
So, the guests created the deterioration in cast "friendliness".
just an opinion...

i agree it is the guests whohave gotten worse. not only are they
more beligerent than before but now their pure stupidity is
overwhelming. Like the lady who swore that she was told that a
SoCal Ap had no blockout days rather it just had less dicounts than
the Premium. I think that if you want to knock us current cast
members come spend a day working ODV or Foods and see what some of
these people have to put up with EVERY day.

I agree with everyone, and it is a big discussion amongst the former
FastPass Cast Members on the west side of the park, we're tired of
the way guests are treating us. Though that is all I have to say on
the matter. Other than that I have to say this. Steve: This is not
the place to criticise current Cast Members. I'm not sure about
Traditions, but in Making Disney Magic orientation one of the biggest
emphasis was on working together, and looking out for each other, and
your comment to Cujo was just uncalled for, this isn't the place for
insulting CM's on their judgement. Regardeless on how you would have
handled it, he is still a CM, and as we all wish guests would
realize, we have feelings too, and if it was me who you said that to,
I would be extremely insulted. So I say it once and for all, keep
this site for stupid guest tricks, and not for critisizing how cast
members do their jobs.

Andy is right. I would never want to get into a pissing contest with
any cast member (former or otherwise) and didn't expect it to come to
that. However in it's current form StupidGuestTricks is not the
correct forum to discuss those issues. I thank Andy for taking a
stand and saying what should have been said in the first place.

Andy is not right! Cujo, if Walt was standing nearby within earshot
of that little girl, no matter how wrong she was behaving, would you
have still said "Well, I guess you're just shit outta luck"?????? My
guess is you would have held your toungue.
Why is that? Is it because Walt is nearby? Is it because you in your
heart know it's not the Disney way to handle the unruley child? You
know it was not an appropriate thing to say to a Guest, let alone a
child, so why say it? If Walt or say more realistically Cynthia
Harris were standing right there, would you have said it. My guess is
NO!
I can't believe there's even a defence for these actions. How can you
guys sit here and defend this? Andy didn't take a stand, he crossed
the line.
I'm not chastisaing most of the things we think about Gueust's, they
DO check their brains at the gate, but I will chastise when a
Castmember steps out of line. And in Traditions, while we are taught
to look out for one another, our first PRIORIY is the GUEST!

Steve did you even read Andy's post? His position was that this forum
is not the place for cast members to be berating each other. He
happened to agree with both sides. So can we please discontinue this
subject and go back to what this forum was intended for

Look, I've said it once, and now I'm saying it again, this is not the
place to tell Cast Members whether they are right or wrong with what
they say. Drop the subject, the title of this group is Stupid Guest
Tricks, not "Former Cast Members Vs. Current Cast Members". And
Steve, until I see your name on the list of CURRENT Disney University
trainers, don't lecture cast members on how to do their jobs. You're
not even a current cast member, so it's not fair for you to judge
what is right and what is wrong since you don't even know what being
On Stage is like anymore, and again, even if you did have a right to
do so, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO LECTURE US ABOUT IT!!!

Face it Andy. What was said to that little girl was wrong. Stop
whining because someone called you guys on it. I have no problem with
making fun of stupid Guest situations but this "SHIT outta luck"
comment went too far.
And just because I don't work for Disney anymore doesn't mean I don't
know right from wrong. Fact is I would have fired anyone for treating
a Guest like that.
How thick headed are you people????????????

One last little comment that's been bugging me for awhile...
If Walt were still alive do you think Disneyland would be the way it is now,
with all this crap going on?? Did ya think about that Steve-O?? Maybe you
should work a few days on a churro wagon and get yelled at because Small
World isn't open, you don't have apple sugar for your churros because your
managers (who don't deal with the guests like we do) didn't think it was
cost-effective, and you're charging $8.25 for three sodas, and then still
have a smile on your face.

First of all, it's Steve, not Steve-O, 2nd, obviously if Walt were
still alive and running things, the Parks wouldn't be putting up with
Castmembers like yourselves, nor would it be in the downward spiral
it is going in. Did "{you" think about that Betty??

present)!!!!!! I joined this list to share stories not debate proper
CM behavior!!!!!

Realistically, If Walt Disney was still alive, he would probably look
terrible becasue he would be so old. He most likely would be in a
motorized wheelchair if he is fast or lucky enough to get one. God
knows that those fat slobs that run for the wheelchairs, that don't
really need them will get the chairs before poor old Walt.

Who's this Steve guy, and why is he so uptight? Sounds like somebody's forgotten what it's like to work for a living.

Was this thread moved from somewhere else? Don't understand why it's all quoted and sent from the same person...
Anyway, Steve is wrong about the guest being our first priority. SAFETY is our first priority. Safety can and often does come at the expense of the guest and their wishes.
Small point, but just nitpicking like Steve is.
I'm glad Andy said what he said. He didn't state if he actually said "SH|T" or simply "S.O.L."
My response to a little girl yelling at me even after I gave an explanation would be a very sarcastic, "What a precious child." Or maybe I would have simply told them the ride they were looking for was on the other side of the park.
What really should have happened is the parent should have told the kid to shut up.
We are not there to take abuse. It doesn't matter if the abuse is coming from a 300 pound football player or a grandmother or a spoiled little girl.
Maybe Andy's response should have been, "Ma'am, please take your child away before I call security." After all, the kid is causing a scene and probably disrupting business. Andy is there to sell things, not take abuse.
So he may have lost it and said something innappropriate. And yes, I'm sure he wouldn't have said it if Walt or Cynthia Harris or whoever was standing there with him. And if he did in earshot of a manager, while they might not fire him, I'm sure he'd get disciplined somehow.
But so what. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm glad Andy said that. The guest should know to keep their child on a leash.

I should probably clear something up. Anything posted by "StupidGuestTricks" are posts carried over from our old Yahoo group, Explained here. (http://www.stupidguesttricks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=508) Steve was finally banned for his disrespect for other members after being warned several times I got to kick him on my birthday.
