Got a rather bothersome SG story from one of Snow White's friends yesterday. Dear Snowy seems to have gotten a stalker. A grown man had tried to kiss her as she was doing her rounds about the Town Square. In fact, he had visited her 3 times that same morning, trying to get close to the girl in some way - leaning in close to her saying, "May I smell your perfume?", and then also asking for another kiss, which she had declined as Prince Charming may not be happy if she did so.

My stomach turned when she told us of this. It scared her quite a bit as well.

Please SG's - all the Princesses have their princes, they are taken. Don't try anything inappropriate that will scare them.

If it were me, I would have called security and had him dragged from the park.

Or even better yet, let him come close and then give him a good kick in the shins in a way that no one notices :D:.

That's really skeevy. Poor girl.... and I'm guessing she'd get into trouble if she broke character to tell him to take his creepy vibes elseplace.

His description should be given to all of the attendants and as soon as he gets into line for the meet and greet security should be called and the guy escorted out of the park.

That is very inappropriate behavior.

Sadly that is not as uncommon as people think. We have had a number of "face stalkers" who have had to be banned from the park. There was one girl I worked with who had to be taken out of her role for awhile due to a stalker. Even though the man was banned, he was frequently seen in the parks anyway.

Yeah, jerks like that don't know what "Leave the talent alone" means; to them it just adds to the thrill. They take advantage of the fact that there are too many people for Disney to check everyone. Unless and until you start having to scan everyone's thumb/fingerprint before they enter the park, the problem will continue. And I'm sure that we all know that stalking is usually a step that escalates to eventual murder. These are sick individuals. And I bet if you banned them from the park in a way like I just said, they'd probably raise a ruckus about how Disney is spreading lies about them, etc..

I haven't heard about Linda Skywalker or the Towel Baby Lady in quite awhile. How're they doing?:D:

It's an oldie, but Linda Skywalker is some woman who dresses up in Star Wars clothes and thinks she's married to Luke Skywalker; the Towel Baby Lady is this equally nutsy woman who carries a towel pretending it's a baby, but when someone tries to play along, she tells them angrily it's a towel, then coos and comforts the towel as if it was a baby. Do a search on this site; it's hilarious!

Actually, Linda is not going after Luke anymore. And if my guess is correct, I think she's going after Anakin (last summer, her hair wasn't blond...it was brown).

If I remember the story right, Towel Baby is a couple who have some mental problems. They had a baby who died in infancy and the towel sort of "replaced" that baby. If people don't treat it like a real baby they get mad. The impression I got was that they were weird but harmless.

Earplug Boy is a man who walks around with brightly colored earplugs (sometimes skips around!) I saw him a lot when I worked attractions. He had an alternate entrance GAC, but I never knew what his disability was. If I am keeping my stories straight, at one time he worked custodial. He became obsessed with the princesses and one particular parade character, and got people to give him their names. He tracked down their phone number and addresses. He was fired and and banned, but would still show up. (I believe Ear Plug Boy and the princess stalker were one in the same).

I have had my own creepy experience. I was helping out Lilo. It was the first set of the day and we didn't have a Stitch. After the Adventure Begins crew went by a forty-something year old man came over to me smelling of alcohol, put his arm around me and started propositioning me. My attendant got me out of there real quick, for which I was eternally grateful. The scariest part is that Lilo is supposed to be 6!

Ick ick ick... Those people are just whack jobs.

Snow and friends got started on chatting about how she is only 14 years old, the baby of the Princesses. So to us, that creepy man was nothing but a child molester, plain and simple.

At the end of the afternoon, I'd never seen Snowy so eager to get back home to her castle.

It's been a long time since I've seen the movie or read the original story, but I thought Snow turned 16 or 18, thus making her a woman and becoming the fairest of them all, which is why the Wicked Queen wanted to kill her.

And sort of a reverse on the creepiness... A couple friends and I got a photo with Genie a few years ago. One on either side, and one kneeling in front. In the photo, the way Genie's eyes are looking plus his smile, it looks like he's leering at my friend kneeling in front of him...

Reminds me of a guy from a couple of different "board-x"s. I don't want to throw out his name, but he loads the picture forums with pics of him kissing and hugging the princesses and giving them flowers and candy and stuff. He carries these little dolls around and they have to be in every picture. dude is just out there...he's got an obsession with Suzy and Perla as well.

Every time I read one of his posts, I can't help but worry about some of those characters' friends.

Good idea, but wouldn't it be sad if all the Princesses had to start carrying the stuff. I could see how some mentally disturbed or even developmentally disabled people could become infatuated or stalk the Princesses. I have been stalked back in my radio days and it WAS VERY SCARY!

Yes I have seen his posts as well. He is pretty harmless from what I understand. Or I might be thinking of another guy on a board that loves the Princesses. He is developmentally disabled and always has pics taken with Princesses. They like him cause he does not get weird about it, he is just a grown man who is very childlike. They don't mind having pics taken, because that is all he asks, never does cross a line with the characters. He is a good guy. This guy is at DL. He may not be the one you are talking about. Since Suzy and Perla are rarely out at DL, I would imagine it is the other guy at WDW I have heard about on a different board than the other guy. There are many of them that love the characters, some do cross a line they should not. Some of the folks are just enamored of the Princesses and Disney and to them it is real.

I really like Belle a LOT cause I collect pins and Sericels and figurines, but I would never think of trying to her best friend. We met Belle at Goofy's Kitchen one time in her blue peasant dress and she was just delightful and she and I talked about our respective princes, :)then later we went to Fantasy Faire to meet other Princesses and get Ralphie's pic with them and she was there again in her yellow ball gown and told us she remembered us from breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. It usually is a different friend of Belle at the Fantasy Faire, needless to say I was a bit embarassed that we ran into her twice, she probably thought we were stalking her... NOT! We were thinking that we would get other Princesses to have pics with. We eventually did when I took Ralphie to Ariel's Grotto and it was NOT the same friend of Belle we saw there. LOL!

But one of the reasons I go to DL and WDW is the characters. I love to get pics with them. It is fun! They are Disney and we have so much fun with them. I love Goofy as well and he always gives me a big Goofy kiss with his elongated choppers when I see him ay Goofy's Kitchen. I know it is the same friend of Goofy's that we see a LOT because he remembers us every trip and hugs me every time. Maybe Goofy has a thing for me?;) LOL! He is one of my faves, cause he is...well...just goofy!:)

As many of you know, my son is autistic and these people you've mentioned sound very developmentally "challenged". I'm sure they do love the princesses, I know my son does. The breakfast at the castle was terrific and he got so much praise he was puffed up like a peacock for the rest of the day, it was great. To autistic adults, the princesses in the parks really truly are the princesses just as Daniel Radcliffe simply is Harry Potter to them. But the first guy and another one mentioned don't sound disabled but possibly dangerous and this must be scary for the ladies. If something more serious than smelling perfume happened, what would happen? At what point in the harassment do they officially keep the guy out?

Not related but character related LOL

Disney Dining CM: I must inform you that if you eat lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern, there will be no characters present.

Me: Are you kidding? Lady, you have no idea.

Dining CM: Darn, I wish you were going to be there on my day off. I would come to the restaurant just to see your family.

LOL

In my household, we ARE the characters!

And you know, I bet the Sparrows get hassled a LOT...and the Jasmines. . .

We had a teenaged boy with Downs that used to frequent our Disney store when I was a CM. I worked as a Greeter most of the time, and his father would always apologize profusely when his son would run up to me and give me a big hug every time they came in or were even just in the mall walking. I never minded, though. He was so sweet, I always hugged him right back.

I often used to wonder if that was how the park characters felt, all that adoration. He just loved me because I worked there- to him I was a little bit of the magic and that was magic for me.

It sounds like some of the previous "SG people" mentioned have, for whatever reason, taken on the creepieness. IT seems that one of them is simply "acting" and not really impaired in any way. Those are the ones that I would be wary of.

The drunk grabbing the princesses should be booted!

(OR, you could put the prince next to her, with a REAL sword or pike!)

That might make them pay attention to decorum, Especially if you put a little red paint on the blades!

I don't know but the whole Snow White meets the drunken groper (I'm assuming this would be his greatest thrill) thing is really repulsive. My daughter wants to do a college program there and if some loser was slobbering all over her I'd be pretty upset. I'm thinking of the old Tigger situation a couple of summers ago. I was on Tigger's side, it was fairly obvious to me that the kid did something to Tigger. Can Snow White defend herself or can the jerk be dragged off?

Snow White's situation reminds me of my days working at the ren faire ages ago. My character was a roundheel, and we ladies always had a lot of fun good-naturedly flirting with male guests, but sometimes we got unwanted attention. One day, I was strolling near the back 40 where it was much quieter than the rest of the faire. Three men surrounded me, tried to hand me $60 dollars and asked if that was enough. I was sure they had to be joking so I joked back, saying that it wasn't nearly enough for the likes of me. Well, they brought out more cash and asked again. I started to get very scared as I was in a pretty deserted area of the faire, but luckily a fellow character came by and I was able to call out a "hey rube" to him. He got me out of there quickly, thank god. I was really shaken up. After that, I tried not to be near the back 40 by myself. I hope Snow doesn't see that creep again.

EeyoresButterfly
04-17-2008, 08:52 PM
Board x is used in place the name of any board that we are complaining about. Apparently awhile back people would post complaints about other boards, and our members would inundate them with posts. In response to that we are not supposed to identify specific boards. Board x could be any number of boards that may or may not be Disney related (but they usually are).

Suddenly I am seeing a scene from a favorite non-Disney movie. Support Your Local Sheriff, when The new sheriff (James Garner) tells the person he is putting into a jail cell (Bruce Dern) with no bars, a chalk line across the opening, and a dab of wet red paint on the outside side of the line, "Oh, that? We cannot physically push somebody off, but typically in a situation like that we will alert our attendants and immediately leave set. We do not stay there for that kind of behavior.

IMO all Attendants should have a Nextel (I know from my brother they don't in some parks) with a direct connection to Security. That way when somebody gets a little to "close" to a character, starts screaming that it is time for the character to head in or whatever they do, they can quickly call for assistance and Security can come running.

My brother told me a story how one time this guy started cussing him up one side and down the other because his character had to go in. My brother had a Nextel that day and he called for Security who kicked the guy out. The Nextel has also helped defuse situations without him even using it. Just pulling it out and threatening to use it gets a lot of people to calm down.

I plan to sometime soon start going around and meeting characters and getting my picture taken with them and their autographs. It'll be fun. I might be a grown man and all but I love the characters. Don't worry, I'm not a creepy man who will start stalking a princess (Daisy Duck on the other hand... Just kidding! It'll mostly be the ones in locations with Photopass CMs there too. I'd rather add all the character shots to my growing collection of photos than dig up my camera. I plan on buying the CD one day, after I've gotten a whole heck of a lot of shots.

Oh, yeah, if anybody knows who was Chip's friend in front of the train station (I believe it was Chip and not Dale, but anyway) Wednesday afternoon tell him thanks. I was the tall guy with glasses who persuaded the Photopass CM out there to take our picture. Chip was funny that day and annoying his attendant by wandering off and going under the rope set up to funnel P&P Party guests to the right side of the station and doing a few other things.

The Photopass CM expressed a little hesitantation as she wasn't taking pictures of characters just then but IMO if you're right near a character then you take pictures of that character if a guest asks you to, especially if you're not busy.

Chipmunk ID 101 (from Sundee at the Ft Wilderness Campfire singalong, starring Chip and Dale). Chip has a dark "chocolate chip" nose and teeth close together. Dale has a reddish meatball nose and teeth far apart. I personally just shorten it to "chocolate" Chip. :D:

Suddenly I am seeing a scene from a favorite non-Disney movie. Support Your Local Sheriff, when The new sheriff (James Garner) tells the person he is putting into a jail cell (Bruce Dern) with no bars, a chalk line across the opening, and a dab of wet red paint on the outside side of the line, "Oh, that? That's the guy who crossed the line earlier today.":D:

Good memory!! Thats what I was thinking of!

Of course the washer with the tape over it would not be used because of the firearms!

Chip is the good looking one and Dale is the goofy one with two teeth and a red nose. :p:I first learned to tell them apart by their noses, though for me it was always easier to spot Dale's large reddish nose. If the chipmunk in question didn't have it, he was Chip. Only recently did I hear of the "chocolate chip" memory device.

Another easy way: they're names are always in the same order, Chip and Dale. Chip, number 1, has 1 tooth. Dale, number 2, has 2 teeth.

Much easier to tell them apart than Tweedledee and Tweedledum, whom I'm told are identical except for the name embroidered on their shirts!

Coming from someone in the studios, Linda Skywalker still comes in at least once a week, for awhile she was stalking Ron Stoppable. Although now she comes in with lots of HSM stuff on and is now Linda Efron.

Oh good Lord!

Oh dear god in heaven, take me now! Can't this lady make up her mind?!

And to Grumpy Pirate, yes she is an AP.

What color do you think her hair is now (considering 2 years ago it was blond for Luke, and last summer it was brown for Anakin)?

There are a lot more locations without Nextels, then there are with them. I have had situations where I had no way to contact security, because I didn't have one.

That just scares me, Zac Effron is a real person. It's one thing to be enamored with a character, but that to me is way too close to being stalkerish for comfort.

Eesh! It does indeed. Some people are just so fan-ish that it becomes their lives. Nothing more. When I was a frequent poster on a board x at the fan site of a certain actress, this one girl was so depressed about this entertainer getting pregnant. She went into tangents on how the baby will take away from filming time and fans. Finally when the child was born, she was so "jealous" that she she stated that wanted to get her name legally changed to that of the woman's newborn daughter. Had no idea if she did or not, but the fuss she made was just simply absurd. When an official photo of the actress holding her child was released on the site - girly girl went absolutely MAD! She started a long ranting post on how selfish the actress is being because she is forgetting her fans, and showing that she loves her baby more than them. At the end of the post was a nice little, "This is officially the ending if my fandom for ______."

It was like she was a bratty toddler who was jealous of the new baby in her family.

Hehe, my son loved getting to take his picture with Minnie and Mulan at Goofy's Kitchen- both are really cute!:)
I got a great big bear hug from Baloo!:D:

From what I gathered, your cuteypie son was trying to pick up on Mulan, when I questioned him about it when we saw you, he blushed and said she was hot! Heeheehee..And he was kinda scared of Minnie, but then so am I, she might steal Ralphie away! Your son is so cool, he had a crush on Mulan...LOL!
susi-Q

And yes some of the folks are autistic or developmentally disabled and do believe the Princesses are real in every sense. I love to watch them with the characters, they are so touching and the characters love to interact with these folks! Heck, I BELIEVE. I can easily get caught up and lost in the magic. I always talk to them as their characters and we always have fun.

I asked Max one time who and where his mom was and he shrugged. I told I would ask his dad later when I saw him and Max gestured that would be great. It is amazing how you can understand the gestures with no words at all.

Later I saw Goofy at Goofy's Kitchen for dinner and asked him about the missing Mrs. Goofy. He just looked sad and a bit ashamed and covered his eyes either in shame or sadness, maybe Goofy was doing the horizontal bop and them left the chick OH NO!

I asked him if it was Clarabelle Cow and he made gestures of getting sick, so I think Goofy does NOT find Clarabelle attractive. All in all it was a very funny exchange AWAY FROM KIDS and Goofy remembers us everytime we come into Goofy's kitchen now. I think his friend is always there. He must be assigned that particular location. I love Goofy and his friend is soooooo...cool with this middleaged, overweight, geeky lady! Thanks to Goofy at Goofy's Kitchen. If anyone here knows Goofy's friend at Goofy's Kitchen at the Hotel, please tell him/her we have a great time with them!:goofy2: Goofy and Goofy's friend;) just make our trip! I love Goofy anyway, always have since I was a kid. These guys are real in my book when we go! I always get my hand kissed or a big huh and long schnozz kiss from Goofy when we are there. I LOVE it!!!!!!!

Remember there is time limit to get that CD before it goes away. I cannot remember, is it 3 months or 60 days or 30 days? Crap, I shopuld know that, since I just kept getting notices that mine was about to be deleted, nothing I wanted to buy on the most recent disk. But I will deginitely use my photopass for WDW.

We bought one disk from the site and there were some pics of another party on ours. I think I mentioned that here before, it was a very pushy woman with two kids who cut the line from the exit and somehow 2 or 3 of her pics ended up on my photopass. Maybe that was intentional on the photopass photog part just so she would NOT get her pics:twisted: cause she was line cutting and the photog registered them on mine thinking I could just delete before we ordered. I would not doubt it. She was the epitome of pushy mom with her kids and to top it off could not speak a word of English (or pretended not to, to get special treatment) so she just shoved her little darlings (who, I have to hand to them, looked downright embarassed by Supermom) in front of everyone!

ALL her pics ended up on my CD and there were different photogs. so it may be something the photogs do at Fantasy Faire to *get even* with an SG, could it be? Nahhhhhhhh;) heeheehee... It was interesting that ALL her pics ended up on my disc, so it could also have been a glitch in the photopass site adding them to my disk...I like to think there is justice out there. She probably did not get a one of her photos, since I got them all. That would be sad for the kids, but it MIGHT teach her a lesson.

So make sure you don't miss the date for buying the CD. Get those pictures soon. I guess you could always just buy multiple CDS if you don't find them all soon enough to get them on one CD. Someone here knows how long one has to order the pics and CD from the site. I am brainfarting this morning!

The pictures start expiring 30 days from when the first one was taken. I know a trick though to keep the pictures from going away, you get them transferred to a new card and the time restarts on all the pictures. I did that the other day with mine. I was talking with the Photopass CM who helped me with that and she said she has pictures from December on her card from doing exactly that.

There should be some common sense ground rules.

Example: There was a particular Pocahontas who was, no denying, quite attractive. My wife was tired and I took our daughter to meet her. While in line I noticed that there were far more Dads in the line than normal. Little girl in front of us say that she would like a hug from Pocahontas, her dad replies, "So would I". Harmless joking around..

Well, everyone was well behaved, but she certainly attracted a far larger male population than most.

My wife still picks on me about this because when my daughter and I returned, she asked, (to our daughter) "Well, how did you like Pocahontas?" and I couldn't help but reply, "Pocahontas was pretty stacked." So I get the "pervert" comments any time there's a Pocahontas around.

(note: I was video taping and picture taking, I had no contact with Pocahontas other than answering a few questions for my daughter as she was only 3 or 4 at the time. I did enjoy the view however)

Now, in this case, everything was harmless but I could easily see things getting out of hand and security possibly needing to be called in. It's a real tricky situation. Where does the line of harmless joke end and stalker/pervert begin?

PS. Do a google search for Yuki Love if you are interested in seeing this particular friend of Pocahontas (note: NOT safe for work, or possibly for marriages either..)

Really?? That's good to know!

Handy trick for us CMs. It allows us to build up a whole heck of a lot of pictures before buying the CD or anything. I'm working on getting the "magic" shots (the ones with things added in like Tinkerbell in your hand in the MK) and I am going to sometime soon start going to the character locations that have Photopass photographers to get my pictures with the characters.

The magic shots are fun and there's a bunch. There's Tinkerbell in front of the castle, fighting Captain Hook just down from Pirates, a ghost sitting on the hearse in front of Mansion with you in front of it, Stitch sitting by you on a bench in Epcot, Mickey and the gang flying over in a hang glider (Soarin' magic shot but mine were taken in the World Showcase), Stith coming out of the ground at Studios, Simba in your arms in AK, and more.

Some are harder to get as the photographers for them are only out for a little while and not always there. The Captain Hook and Mansion ones are like that, the photographers are only there a little while in the morning and only if they aren't short handed that day. I'm pretty sure I have all the MK magic shots but the Mansion one. The day I was there working on getting it and Captain Hook the Toontown DPI base was short handed and as they are the one's who do all Liberty Square photos they weren't doing the Mansion that day. Another trick is to ask the photographers that are out taking pictures about their magic shots.

I still need to get by AK to get some more regular shots and that park's magic shots. What I do is stop by the photo center on my way into the park and ask them about their magic shots. While at the MK I had them call their base (Main Street) and the Toontown base to find out about the Hook and Mansion ones as those are the harder ones to get in that park

Tinkerbell, Stitch coming out of the ground, and others are very easy to get as they are done by the photographers in the normal locations.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I believe there is another magic shot at Studios but the photographers that do it only come out for a little while on the street that goes from the entrance to the hat just before the parade. I missed them the last time I was there as I had someplace to be.

Interesting to know about the transfering to a new card thing. Of course that only applies as long as you dont claim them via photo center in park or on line before doing that right?

In general you have 30 days to claim them (online/in person) then another 30 days to purchase what you want. (extraordinarily priced prints or a somewhat more better priced CD..LOL) Mine from March were set to expire this coming Wednesday but we just couldnt afford it this week.
They set me up, As much as I appreciated opening ToonTown and the photogs taking pics, we werent gonna get the photopass this time cause we just couldnt swing it..they hand you a card and say "here ya go, shell out some money" What a marketing ploy.

Anyway, I called Friday and explained the situation "pictures or food for 2 weeks" and the nice lady Laura (HI LAURA!) very kindly extended it for another 30 days (I only asked for 9 days)

As for the "special" pics. We got Meghyn fighting Hook--SOOO very cute and while I was resting my poor ankles (sitting in a wheelchair..OW!) while Donnie ran the stroller out to the car. Meghyn decided she really really wanted to have her picture taken in front of the big ball. OK---this is the child whom I had to forceably hold her hands down all week and tell the photogs "QUICK< SNAP THE PICTURE" LOL Anywho, the very nice guy did some fantastic shots of her posing with a stuffed Figment and the absolute funniest surprise face of her holding Tink. If I can figure out how to link you to the page to see them without logging into my account I will. IF not you will have to wait till I get the CD.

Don't forget Shorty, that the photopass has all those COOOOOOOLLLLLLLL borders and stuff to put on the pics. Last time I couldnt decide so I did almost every border for every pic and multiplied them by 4 or 5. (started with 100, wound up with 480-something and 2 CDs....LOL There is a limit of how many you can do..Yes I know this because........;) LOL

I view my photos in the centers the day they are taken. What I've done is write on the back of my card the date I need to have the pictures transferred again by so they don't expire and disappear into the ether.

I know all about the borders, believe me I'll make use of them soon enough.

There's a limit? Ah, man! I was sorta hoping to have so many pictures that by the time I get the CD it'll cost them more in the end than the CD cost me! :)

There's a limit? Ah, man! I was sorta hoping to have so many pictures that by the time I get the CD it'll cost them more in the end than the CD cost me! :)

They will send you more then one CD for that price (100 bucks:rolleyes:) That is how I got the 2 of them. Now I have heard of others getting more then that 480ish put onto the CD's (600 is the most I have heard of one person receiving in one order) so it may vary but it wouldnt let me do more then that.

I would love to do the book thing but it is so limited in what backgrounds there are and how they are configured (1 pic, 2 pic, etc. layout of frames, etc) that I would rather just get the CD and eventually scrapbook my own (YEAH RIGHT--I still havent done the ones from 05 yet..lol) I wish it had certain rides or lands so that you can put those pics on proper backgrounds. Gets kinda boring using the same characters over and over.

Where are you supposed to put Tink and Capt Hook? On a page with Donald in swim trunks? Plus I played around just now and couldnt get the full shot of Belle I wanted in the frames (it either cut off Meghyn or Belle) OH BTW...here go see the brat (ignore the fat lady and dont laugh too hard at the large man)
http://www.disneyphotopass.com/photoshareviewer.aspx?share=a8fe8234-04f1-4543-9077-bb83cdc482ce Last few are those with Tink and somewhere in the middle front are the Hook ones. I had to send it to my other email addy to be able to get the link so whoever views it cant edit anything. Sent the ones from 05 to Donnie's dad (with the password-not sure you could share them then) and he started playing with things and lost a few, as in deleted, of my pics, not to mention sending the link to everyone and their brother:rolleyes: I WAS NOT a happy person. If anyone sees it glitch to not just view let me know please.

And you know, I bet the Sparrows get hassled a LOT...and the Jasmines. . .

I wasn't present for this but in Norway a Jasmine had her butt grabbed by a guest, who then proceeded to grasp her. I can't remember if he got himself banned but I do remember that apparently he was removed from the restaurant.

I have heard of Cinderella and Alice getting their her breasts squeezed, right in front of children and other people. Don't get me started on poor Ariel. Really, you need to have nerves of steel some days to get on that costume and greet people.

It pisses the hell out of me that some men can't control their little hands. Really, those girls are someone daughters, would you like a complete stranger to fondle your daughter? I bet you wouldn't; so let me ask you this, why the hell are you touching and fondling someone you know you shouldn't? If you aren't getting any fun at home, guess what? A kiddie park is not exactly the best place to start looking for someone to fondle.

IMO all Attendants should have a Nextel (I know from my brother they don't in some parks) with a direct connection to Security. That way when somebody gets a little to "close" to a character, starts screaming that it is time for the character to head in or whatever they do, they can quickly call for assistance and Security can come running.

I agree!!! Sometimes SG become ridiculously and dangerously rude. There have been times that characters had to be escorted out of the set because of situations. What really pisses me off is that sometimes security is just freaking slow in getting there. I can recall two situations only that security was called and they came fast. One of them had four managers calling at the same time.

My brother told me a story how one time this guy started cussing him up one side and down the other because his character had to go in.

You know what's sad? I have been cursed so many times and in so many languages, that I simply think this is normal already. As I read this, I realized that yes, you can have security escort them out of the park. But I have become so used to this, that I have just taken it as part of my job. In the beginning it bother me, but some managers just don't do anything so I have just learned to walk off when the last family is done. I simply don't even bother to look back and leave them off screaming to themselves.

Maybe they shoud put a big countdown clock near the greet place, and the attendent could reset it for the "next" show or minutes left before Ariel needs to take a swim, etc.

There have been times that characters had to be escorted out of the set because of situations. What really pisses me off is that sometimes security is just freaking slow in getting there.

I've posted this on the board before, but I'll do so again. This reminds me of one of the more scary incidents I endured while working entertainment. It was the last set of the day for all of the characters in the Oasis at DAK. There were several families that had one person each character line and would run between them so they could meet all of the characters. This is never allwed and the attednants and captain made this abundantly clear. This was especially true because it was the last set of the day and they had to close the lines.

The attendants announced several times that they were closing the lines and only those members of the party that were already in the line would get to see that specific character. I was helping out Minnie Mouse, and my line had the worst offenders. After the attednants made the announcement and closed the line, several parties had group members trying to join them. The attendants told them no, and things started getting out of hand.

The attendants began announcing that only those guests who were already in the line would get to see Minnie, and that if the others did not leave Minnie would be taken inside. Naturally, many of the guests who were following the ruels got upset. Her attendants began pulling those guests up to see me since they had followed the rules. The rest of the guests closed in around her. Security was called, but they can't be everywhere at once and took a couple of minutes to get there. Three attendants and a captain had to hold the crowd back while shouting, "Run inside Minnie!" She sprinted backstage as quick as I could.

That was probably the scariest guest situation I have ever encountered. As a friend of a character, I do not have good vision, I am in confining clothes, and I must rely on my attendants to keep me safe. When guests crowd around us like that, it can be very claustrophobic, especially because we cannot see everybody and where their hands and feet are. All of us have been physically assaulted at one point, and having guests crowd around you like that without knowing their intentions is not a comfortable feeling.

I agree. I remember one time when I was working with Pooh at Pooh's Playground. There was a lady and her daughter interfering with the line and the guests taking pictures (which was closed, as it was the end of the night). I kindly explained to her that she couldn't do that, and she proceeded to let loose a string of curses. I have a feeling the mother whose daughters were meeting with Pooh was more shocked then me.

Hearing those types of things make me really mad. As a guest who goes to the parks often I won't put up with other guests hurting or assaulting the characters. I also think any guest that purposely assaults a Disney character should be banned from ever stepping on any Disney property again and charges pressed.

As far as the Disney character fans that come there often, I feel many of them are harmless and would not do anything to physically abuse or harm a character. However, I am not condoning some of their actions towards the characters. I am a huge character fan, Joanna can atest to that, but there's a difference in being a true fan and crossing the line and behaving in a rude and inapropriate way. It shouldn't matter if you're at WDW or not, I think people should treat others the way they would want to be treated, but obviously that doesn't happen all the time.

So, for those of you who are friends with the female characters (not just face, but the other ladies like Minnie, Daisy, etc.), do you find it "weird" for "normal" adult men to want to come visit you? I'm not talking about the grabbers/stalkers/etc, just the ones who want to come and get an autograph/pose for a few shots.

Where is the line for creepy?

Oh Dear! After years of teasing my husband, He and Ralph took a picture with Ariel, at Susi's and my insistence. Susi and I did the same. I guess some people think it is a little strange, but we were just having fun. I really did enjoy Ariel interacting with the little kids. One was too shy to speak to Ariel, so Ariel asked her if Ursula had stolen her voice.:p:

How is that creepy?

We can't get a picture with the CM's performing because we are men?

DW and I have pictures of ourselves with Mickey, Minnie, Goofey, etc.
One or the other would take a picture with the Character, and then switch, so the other one could have a pricture taken.

Not any more creepy that getting our picture taken with the "male" characters.

I totally agree. I am a 54 yr old kid when at Disney and I love the characters, both face and costume. I love to have my pic taken with them. It is pure escapism for me while I am there. I would NEVER even think to act inappropriately towards any CM. They could be my kids, for pete's sake, but even at 54, I can still have fun.

I loved it when adults came to meet the characters. Kids are often very single-minded about the autographs and sometimes won't respond to play, but adults will really get into it and respond. I had one woman visit Timon who was awesome - she said, "I've always wanted to do the hula with Timon!" and proceeded to dance his Lion King song with him. So yes, I definitely encourage adults to meet the characters, and play with them too! Please don't feel like you can only meet them if you have an autograph book - I'd much rather have a memorable interaction with somebody than just sign a book.

That said, I was almost always friends with male characters - the only girls I befriended were Jojo the clown, Suzy, and Terk (not that anyone can tell she's a girl anyway). Suzy never got harassed, and children were the only ones who wanted to meet Jojo.

The way to make sure you're not being creepy is to always be polite. Don't make sexual comments, even light ones. After so much time fending off advances, even the playful jokes about how much you'd like to hug Jasmine (or whoever) get very, very old. If you're awestruck by the Princess's beauty, say "it's an honor to meet you" or "your Prince is very, very lucky" and leave it at that. Act like a Prince and you'll get treated like one.

(Which reminds me of a story: when I was friends with Suzy, I'd curtsy to her guests. Mostly it was little girls who would respond, sometimes at prompting from their parents, but there was one little boy who was probably 8 - 10 years old who put his hand over his heart and bowed just like a Prince. I was so totally charmed by that.)

I've been friends with several females, and I really don't find it creepy at all. Minnie is a shameless flirt (although she will always be Mickey's girl) and it is a good day when she can make guys blush! Daisy can be the same way. As for Lilo, it's great anybody wants to interact with her. I can't count the number of times she has been asked to stand aside so somebody can get their picture with just Stitch. It's a lonely existence. I can honestly think of only one male creepy guest:

It was the first set of the day for Lilo (Stitch was late getting up that day, he's still adjusting to the no coffee rule). After the truck with characters went by at DAK a 40ish man smelling very strongly of alcohol comes up and puts his arm around and Lilo and proceeds to hit on her, slurring his words all the while. Thankfully the attendant quickly got her out of there and they hid until Mr. Drunk was well on his way. Clearly this is not normal behavior, most of the time I don't care one way or another for the gender of the guest excpet when it comes on deciding on a pose.

Good thought. Walking or driving impaired at midnight has lots of potential for trouble. Not even sipping is so much easier than dealing with problems later. I think that the park policies should be made more clear.

I don't know if the policies are different for each park, but from what I've heard, guests are not allowed to kiss face characters on the cheek (I think one on the hand is acceptable if the character allows it). However, I've seen pictures of little boys kissing princesses on the cheek (I've even heard reports of face characters actually asking children for kisses), so I'm guessing that some CMs will bend the rules for young children. The strange thing is that I've also seen pictures of grown women kissing Captain Jack Sparrow on the cheek, so I guess that it all boils down to the CM's comfort level.

The problem is that guests may not realize that certain things that can be done with fur characters may not be acceptable when it comes to face characters.

I don't know the policy for face characters, but pretty much everything is up to the CMs discretion. You just have to make sure you don't put yourself in what could be construed as a compromising situation. The princesses kiss people on the cheeks all the time, my cousin's little girl had quite the collection of lipstick marks! Not innappropriate per se, but I had a girlfriend who had a serious love of Micky Mouse. When I finally brought her to Disney World and she got to the autograph center in Mickey's Toon Town and finally had Mickey to herself... well, I think he might have jumped up a couple of feet in the air as she ran screaming "MICKEEEEEEE!!!", grabbed him and started bawling her eyes out. My GF at the time was 19 and a cute Italian girl so it probably wouldn't have scared the (probably girl) actor, but probably freaked him out a bit. Thankfully she composed herself quickly but I thought it was pretty funny.

I strongly believe that WDW is NOT an appropriate venue for any sexually-related antics. Just wrong, wrong wrong place for it. That being said, on a hot day, I've noticed that there are MANY scantily-clad young females in the park (tank tops with no visible means of support, short shorts etc.) and it's hard for a red-blooded male in his procreation-age prime not to notice. Sad, really. Gotta hand it to your hormones but they rule the roost. Thankfully I know how to draw the line.

That reminds me that I've noticed a real drop in the quality of clothing when people come to the park. Gone are the days when fathers wore slacks with collared shirts and moms wore dresses. I once remember my dad being pretty much the only one (happened in the 70s) wearing shorts and sandals to WDW that day and me being really young but still noticing that - even though they were white shorts with a belt - we were "under-dressed". Today, his outfit would be considered overdressed at WDW.

What I have really noticed on this topic is the difference in between parks. The universal crowds seems to me to dress even worse. Another interesting observation- At MK exiting after wishes, I have noticed that the people in the resort monorail line are much nicer. I think it has to do with them spending MUCH more money and appreciating it more.

Funny thing is, Disney isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. You're lucky to bring change from $500 when you take a family of 4. Eat at one of the better restos and you're easily breaking that limit.

Maybe people realise that you shouldn't wear nice things because they get condiments, dirt, sweat and water all over them at the park anyway, but still. Are clean, unripped clothes too much to ask for? The ironic thing is, I'll bet it's the poorer guest who actually go to the trouble of dressing up...

Those kinds of shirts shouldn't make it past the front gate IMO.

IMHO Disney should come up with and enforce a basic dress code. No offensive slogans on shirts, hats, etc. (spell out exactly what offensive means in this case so it isn't arbitrary), no bathing suits as an outer layer (in the theme parks), no revealing clothing, etc.

The state of dress (or should I say undress) I've seen guests in at times is scary. Sorry, lady, I may be a heterosexual male and you a good looking woman but I still don't want to see your belly or your breasts hanging out, especially in the parks!

Of course if Disney did this they would have to redesign some of the dresses for the Bibbidi Bobity Boutique (I know I spelled it wrong) along with the other hassles. The freaking Ariel dresses show off the girl's belly and I'm talking little girls! No way if I was a parent I'd allow my kid to wear something that showed off their belly like that, especially at that age.

Was in Toontown when an older friend of Mickey's came in from the judges tent. She was practically grossed out when she said that a women in the meet and greet room was about 200 lbs, 50 or so years old (same age as said friend), and was wearing WHITE skin tight leggings and a black tube top. Friend claimed that at her age, she herself would NEVER wear anything of the sort.

You want to see inappropriate clothing / actions?

Just wait until gay days.

I'm sorry, none of that belongs in a family enviornment. What you do in the privacy of your house is fine, what you do in front of impressionable children is quite another thing.

Ah, but we forget that Disney is a business and despite PR slogans and well-wishing employees, the corporation as a whole really just wants a lot of money. Capitalism, just fabulous.
It's pretty sad, when you think about Walt Disney's vision and how much everything has changed since then...

If anyone's seen the special features on the first Pirates DVD, they have the wonderful world of color intro to Pirates the ride. Man, those people were spiffy!

I'm all for dressing for comfort, especially when you're going to be hot and cold and wet and sweaty and standing in line, sitting on hard benches, strapped into roller coasters and let's not forget the matterhorn.
BUT common sense includes fashion sense. Geez.

And, it goes without saying, if your belly sticks out farther than your breasts, there is absolutely no way you should even think about baring your midriff.

And please, don't wear the fcuk shirts, hats, etc. That, or "Free Sobriety Test, Blow Here" with an arrow to their crotch, etc. Really, I am good with you wearing anything that is FAMILY FRIENDLY to the parks.

QFT. I saw a few like that at WDW this year as well as some seriously innappropriate shirts and shorts (hey, not that I'm complaining, but like I've opined before: this isn't the place to show off your pierced nipples). I'm sure SGs get a stupid thrill by sneaking in wearing "fucking gonuts" (done to the dunkin' donuts logo) at the park.
