Wow...5 years. And my how we've grown, just take a look at this internet archive snapshot (http://web.archive.org/web/20030604091516/stupidguesttricks.com/phpBB2/portal.php) was taken back during that first year. Hows that for a trip down memory lane?

I'd like to thank everyone for all their efforts in making SGT a great place the past five years, and I hope that we continue that tradition for many more years to come!

That's cool that this site has made it this long.

I was reading on the archive and I have to ask.....Is it true that supervisors actually threatened disciplinary action for posting on this site? That is rediculous.

They tried a couple of other approaches, and each time I showed them how badly I could hurt them if they tried any of them.

They finally just warned me that I was, "No longer welcome in this department, and you'd better watch your step!" I took the hint and transferred.

Got air conditioning, a big raise, was made a trainer within two months, and they actually like me there. Plus, I don't even *have* an immediate supervisor any more!!!

I got that same kinda message from a drop case manager except she decided to block any chance of me transferring. I quit and eventually ended up at a company who's business and stock price went vertical three months after I hired on.

Her and the company? They finally figured out she was worthless and got rid of her. The company moved to some bay front property where their business, and one of the buildings, sunk.

It's karma I tell ya!!

Heh. That's awesome. But do you miss playing with the choo-choos?Some, but more than the choo-choos and the exceptional cast we had on the railroad, I miss the magic levels of the park.

It's not that I can't make magic happen at the hotel, but it tends to be simple stuff or repairing damage done by CRO. At least they don't throw things at me when they're too late to get a reservation, but still....

I'm hoping I can find a way to sneak back into the park. If I can manage to land plaid at MK, I'll even be working in the same building as the Area Manager who chased me off, and he won't even be able to threaten me!

I'm still amazed that they didn't snap you up into plaid a long time ago. With that overflowing reference shelf in your head for all things Disney (not to mention the one in your home for further research), they could do MUCH worse. On the other hand, with all the trivia you know, a tour could take 3 times as long as normal because of all the "oh, by-the-way"s that could come up at each and every stop. :D:

Pack a lunch. Even *you* would have to refuel at least once.

About how long does one of your misguided tours take? I would love to try to squeeze one in on my next trip. That depends almost entirely on how much you can stand. Some have lasted 8.5 hours, but it's adjustable.

To sign up, just send me a PM and book your day before SWMBO does. It's still free, though I do like to start with a Tonga Toast breakfast at the Polynesian (dutch). There's a limit of 5 persons/tour, and you may not know the others in your group (at least, not at first).

Yowzers! Maybe not this time as I'll only be there a few days. I'll have to think about it. I'm not entirely sure on when I'm coming down yet.

I PM'd Zazu back before our late-December trip, found out the time commitment, and went . I'd still love to get the tour some day, but right now we don't get to WDW enough to be able to spend that much time.

What are the chances of you ever videotaping or audio-recording the tour, Zazu???

Zazu

What are the chances of you ever videotaping or audio-recording the tour, Zazu???Pretty slight, for several reasons.

First, because I tailor each tour to the group I'm with. Newbies get a slightly different show than experience parkers, and CMs get some extra stories told backstage.

Second, because no matter how often I give the tour, it's always different. The itinerary can change in an instant if we run into the Dapper Dans, or Scoop Sanderson, or Push.

Third, because the Park keeps changing, especially in the little things that I talk about a lot.

And finally, because I've been asked to put my collection of Park stories into a book. As in, for pay. Don't know when that's likely to come together, especially now that job #3 is taking up so much time.

Besides, having to make time for it makes it all the more special for those who do. I mean, Club 33 doesn't do take-out, right?

All very good reasons. It won't happen this trip but I will go on one of your tours eventually. Hopefully as soon as possible after I move down there and become a CM myself.

It officially opened at the beginning of February 1996 at what is now SSR. It was designed as an immersive educational experience.

Judy and I, as Disneyana ConventionEars, were able to attend the very first soft opening that was not cast members. The schedule had people arriving Monday and staying until Friday, or arrival Friday and stay until Monday. It included room, all meals, and a schedule of classes that you picked in advance, as well as educational nighttime entertainment.

Unfortunately is was marketed wrong and closed down to the public. However, Disney has continued DI (see www.disneyinstitute.com) to do instruction for business organization in how to properly run businesses, especially for Guest Relations (as in "The Disney Way"). They do a lot of specialized backstage tours. They also get involved in event planning for special cast events.

The two theaters and the classrooms and stuff at SSR were (and may still be) part of the DI.

We got a brochure, and a tape a few years ago, It really sounded interesting. So much so that DW and I were goint to take a few courses! Then I got caught up in work and couldn't make some of the planned trips, and when I did try and book it, the reservations said they were no longer available!! DARN!! DW was going to take the cooking class!!

Yeah, you wanna see a really subversive site, check out www.kbfdrama.com. That the Knott's site, and they have been under attack by park management. We were even forced to sign a broadly-worded statement that we wouldn't use the internet for personal purposes on company time, but it really meant they were scared spitless of KBFD, and were trying to shut it down. Like that's gonna happen! They even tried to infiltrate the site, but the person who did the infiltrating was so amateurish we had no problem getting rid of him.
