Hey Folks, It's my first day off since I came back last thursday and man do I have some stories!!!
NYE was INSANE!!! Soarin' got up to almost 4 hours and we had to put the line outside in the backstage area to keep it out of Sunshine Seasons. The boat ride got up to 70 minutes and circle of life was loading FULL shows. Stroller parking was insane and then it started to rain. Everyone tried to bring their strollers inside and I missed a few. All the ones I did catch began to bitch at me that they saw other strollers inside. In fact there was a lady I argued with for about 5 minutes who eventually came and found me to tell me that their were strollers inside and that I was singling her out because she was Indian. I just snapped, but politely of course. I said "Ma'am I have been here since 8 AM and I will be here till 12 AM. I am doing the best I can to catch everyone but I am only human and I missed a few. I caught you and it is my responsibility to see that everyone follows the rules. It has nothing to due with race. If you want to take this any further, go see Guest Relations." Then on top of that SSE evaced in the middle of the day.
i got bitched at by people who wanted their money back because it was so crowded. I snapped again "Sir, this is our busiest day of the year. MK just closed to capacity and we are getting close to starting phased closings, you can go see GR and they will sympathize but will be pretty unlikely to give you a refund because it was crowded." People are insane!!! I am going to DAK today to relax for a little bit. See ya'll later!

What suprises me is that they KNOW its going to be crowded, and they still complain? true SG. Lookes like you at least maintained as much as you could! Go see the flying bonogs and take the tour!

Glad you survived to report on the chaos. Someone at Knott's posted about a guest using the Race Card. All that time she spent haranguing you meant a bunch of rule breakers that you could not take care of. Nice for kids to hear adults acting that way.

See that's where I would've lost my job if I were you. I would've said "Oh, really, Ma'am? I didn't realize as I'm somewhat colorblind. What sort of Indian are you, Slurpee or Casino?" :D: I'm not racist, but if they want racist, I can give them racist.
Don't let the bastards get you down CMGUY. You're a gentleman and a scholar and WDW is a better place for having you back.

You and me both, the idea that you could go through the thousands there, just to find someone to be prdjuice toward is beyond logic.
They need to give you guys squirt bottles with ice water to spray on them. Give them a wake up call!! (hey it works on the grumpy pups!)

HAHA! Just think, you spot a SG being rude to a CM. Innocently you hand the ICE COLD water sprayer to them to hold for a moment and they can claim they didnt know how the thing worked and just "happened" to spray the SG with it.
Or even better, you can innocently hand it to a young child to "play with" of course in the direction of the SG
BTW,,,NO way no how will you ever get me to wait in line for 4 hours for a 5 minute ride.

See now we are creating a new fun game, "Splat the SG!!"
and I agree about the wait. if you couldn't get a fastpass because they were out, then so long.. we can find other stuff to do! And I'll bet the ones waiting that long became SG's !!! The idea of pitching a fit at the CM's over crowds? COME ON!! jeeze I know they are stoopid, but even that is silly. Thats it we need a new designation: "Super Stupid Guest" when even an SG would call them stupid!

Well, it is very good you survived the SGs, but you just know there are going to be more of them. They seem to breed like bunnies. That is just so typical of these asses who think they are NOT getting away with what everyone else supposedly is.
The race card, I wonder how many times that was used on NYE! Probably hundreds....
You won't let me in the Park cause I am from France (Well that could be true... :hysteria:. )
You make us wait for 4 hours for a 5 minute ride cause I am pink with yellow polka dots.
You won't let ME bring my stroller in here because I am an Indian.
You won't let my kid hang on the chains cause we are Arab.
Yeah, right. That's how it works.
I just wish these ignoramuses HAD to do Guest Service at Disney for just one shift each at City Hall. Boy, they would get a taste of their own bitter medicine. Jags. Course they would NOT learn a thing from the experience.

I know you are not feeling well, but you should have that looked at!!!
heheheehee
I have said it before, DLR and WDW need to start getting a little firm with dolts that pull that type of stuff. It must demoralize the CM's over time, and I am sure affects the other guests near them when they hear and see that type of poop!! Especially since kids are always around!

speaking of kids, can you imagine waiting in line that 4 hours with a small child. HMMPPFF.... and those are the SG's that complain that Soarin' was really stupid and their kids didnt like it. UMMMMMM....NOOOO...you are stupid for waiting that long for a ride and building it up in your mind as some spectacular real experience and your kids didnt like it because they are tired. IDIOT!

Agreed, I have no idea if Disney takes note of how these SG impact other guests but I had a horrible time on the Sunrise Safari some time back with the trucks being FILLED with SG and their spawn:twisted:. People were getting up and leaving the breakfast after due to the spawn throwing food and causing such a ruckus that you could not hear the person next to you. Never mind the gaggle of young girls who kept scaring off the animals with their shrieks.
The driver and guide were both very nice and we complimented them but did say we would not take the Sunrise Safari again due to Disney's inability to control other guests and their spawn.
Now the Sunset Safari was sheer bliss...:p:

I think little ones would be at the end of their rope after an hour! Thats not enjoying a park if you are standing in line!! We went up (to DL and DCA) as a group kids, grand kids, etc. and the TOT line was about an hour. Since DW and I had been on it the previous month, we took the Grandkids over to the 'Bug" rides and let them ride. when we came back (after secret ice cream stop) they were STILL in line. they finally just gave up and went on with us to the pier area. A couple hours later, as we were heading towrd the front gate to go to DL, they stopped by TOT, and the wait was like ten minutes. They rode it and then groused that they didn't get the ice cream (got sniched out by oldest!!)

Aw shucks...:D::D:
I am going to sleep because I have an 8:45 shift tomorrow morning for 16 hours. But I apparently got stuck behind the manson family the other night while walking back to cast services.
Dad: We are losing our house because we gave mickey all of our money.
Mom: Yup Mickey is repossessing all of our stuff because we have no money...
(Both start to laugh while their two little girls burst into tears)
Daughter: (In between Sobs) I don't want Mickey to take our dog!
Dad: Oh that's ok he won't, he knows we will need something to eat.
(Children cry harder while parents laugh)
Mom: Yeah, Mickey is going to take all of our money and become a crack dealer...(Laughs)
I was about a second away from tapping the parents on the shoulder and saying "Excuse me, you're behavior is inappropriate and offensive to the guests around you. Please stop or I will be forced to call security"
But I didn't want to cause drama on my way out. But I was shocked and appalled by the parent's behavior.

Or you could stand in a crowd behind the SG and see how much ice cold water you could get running down the back of the SGs neck before you have to duck behind the surrounding crowd. And of course the CM would have no idea who did it as they were giving the SG their full attention. ;)

Okay, I don't agree with making kids cry, but the other part of that is absolutely my sense of humor! I laughed my ass off at this! <And this is why I'm not ready for kids yet...good thing protection works!> :D: Making the kids actually cry, though, is pretty f*ck*d up... (But I do think my roommates and I actually cracked some jokes like this to each other when we were on our $8k spending spree we lovingly called a vacation--but we're all old enough to know it's a joke. In fact, we actually do refer to my dog <who I love dearly> as "Snacks" whenever we're poor or in the process of spending too much money!)

Actually, I read this with shock and horror that people would do that to their kids for a couple reasons:
First of all, one of the reasons CM's (and by CM's, I mean those with the Cast Member mentality) don't talk about home life is that it makes people around them think about their own home life. If you're joking amongst your group about the money you're spending, that's one thing, but if other people can hear you, you get them thinking about their own, similar worries, and that disgusts me. And, of course, not keeping in mind that up until a certain age, kids don't get jokes like that.
Oy, if you're being an idiot by being at Disney World because you are living beyond your means to be there, don't blame Mickey, especially to your kids. They will have a Mickeyphobia the rest of their lives, and it's all your fault.
The guest experience is to me an almost sacred thing. I can't stand people that ruin it for others. A CM being told /she ruined someone's vacation by closing on time does not fall under these standards, but you know what I mean.

Yeah, only okay with people old enough to get that it's a joke. It is a very funny joke when told to the right audience but not like those people.
I have been known to tell my boy that I didn't go shopping and we'll be eating the bunny for dinner. He always gives a different response and I keep doing it because his answers crack me up. I think my favorite was (totally deadpan) "I want the drumstick."

Kids under about 12-13 don't have the understanding of sarcasm necessary for these kids to understand what their parents are doing. Their minds just aren't wired to work that way yet. The day they can understand it, you'll know.
Now, if I had heard those people and they were talking to me, I would have laughed. But not with their kids there. Don't ever do things like that to get a rise out of your kids. Evil.

I think I recall a show, like an SNL sketch or something, where they did a spoof of a "hidden camera" thing and told a couple of kids that their parents had died while, meanwhile, the parents are watching on closed-circuit TV and cracking up as the kids are bawling. Can't remember what show that was, but (knowing it was fake) it was pretty funny in a really morbid, grotesque way.

I would have called security. This is the very definition of abuse of kids. These people should have CPS on them. If they joke like that at WDW, how do they treat these children at home? That is outrageous behavior, plain and simple. Someone needs to protect those kids from those parents.
I agree, among adults it would be a humourous conversation, but you MUST draw the line at saying that crap to kids. These are kids that are going to be traumatized adults if this is only ONE example of what these parents say to them while ON VACATION! What about at home.:(
