I want to hear your stories of revenge that you get on particularly mean and rude guests. Of course, it's quiet, and often the M/RG won't understand they've been had until later, often much later.
For instance, last night, the MiMs on my bus went out (imagine that) so I had to spiel (I see the shock in your faces even now). I had a run to the All Star Resorts, where I dropped off at all three and picked up for the Sports on my way to Music and Movies. The group going out was great, responded well to my antics. The return group stopped me about halfway through my safety spiel with, "Hey, why don't you just drive?" So I did. I didn't say another word to them. Literally. Even as they exited, I just wouldn't say anything, despite the fact they tried to act nice at that time. They were going out the back door (I made sure to open that door first so they knew to go that way) and then opened the front door to load guests as they exited. I was busy with the guests I was loading.
I knew they were going to Pleasure Island. I didn't say anything when they got off at Marketplace. I know they would have liked the information that there were two stops, one right where they were going. Hey, I didn't deserve what they said to me the last time I talked to them, so I don't want to experience it again: I won't talk to them again. After all, one of my definitions of insanity is doing something over and over hoping for a different result this time. So I won't talk to them again.
The clincher? When I was waiting at PI for the dispatch to go during closing. They walked past my bus, and asked me if I stopped at PI when I brought them in.
"Of course! I make this stop every time I come to Downtown Disney!"
"Oh, so why didn't you tell us you made a second stop?"
"You didn't want me to talk to you, so I respected your wishes. Have a magical night!"

"Hey, why don't you just drive?"
That's terrible... don't they understand how lucky they are to have a person who is spieling to them and could possibly help them out? After all, no one knows how to do Disney like CMs.
After all, one of my definitions of insanity is doing something over and over hoping for a different result this time.
My mom always says this!!!
My story...
One particularly rude guest was reaming me out about strollers at The Land (big shock, I know). They just couldn't believe a "Family-friendly place like Disney has stupid rules about where I can take my stroller". They demanded to speak to a manager and I told them they would just tell them the exact same thing. They insisted and I finally got a manager to come over and speak with the guest. The manager said, "he's absolutely correct, strollers are not permitted in the building unless they are designated as a wheelchair. Period." The manager left and the guest came back for round two thinking I would forget. I told him again and he said some four letter-words that I won't repeat and said that he was never coming back to WDW. I responded with "I'm sorry you feel that way, but if you talk to Guest Relations they might be able to help!" (Once again, sorry GR). BAD IDEA!!! He said he would complain about me and that he was going to lie and get a stroller tag (to designate it as a wheelchair) just to show me! I called guest relations after he left to give them a heads-up. They said unless he could without a doubt prove his daughter couldn't walk (which I had seen her do) they would not give him a tag. Ha!!! Take that for trying to cheat the system!

I love how the guests think GR people are idiots that they can push around and get anything they want.
Even more reason I hope Zazu gets the position!

Kinda in the same vein:
Today one of my co-workers came out of the back of the office (where the network/specialty guys sit) to say "Thank you, Joshua, for teaching us all how to put [a certain computer user] in her place!" I asked what happened and he explained that he had a help ticket to work on something for her that he hadn't gotten around to yet. He had already responded to one e-mail from her explaining that he would get to the issue as soon as he could. She then sent another e-mail, and carbon-copied a higher-up on it, pretending like she hadn't yet heard from him and further, in no uncertain terms, threatening to get him fired if he wasn't there to help her immediately. He wrote back to both her and the higher-up that, as he had already explained to her, he was working on something required by the top General on site and he regretfully informed her that, according to our contract, rank has its privileges. Further, he told her that he figured she would know by now that she has no control over our jobs as we're contractors and she had threatened my job three weeks ago, and I'm still there! He finished by telling her that making him answer pointless and repetitive e-mails wasn't going to let him help her any faster and she was running out of techs who were willing to help her in a real hurry!
The best part: Her boss (the higher-up) responded to both of them almost immediately (while my friend was telling me about his response) that the supervisor regretted her actions and would like the help desk to know what a great job he thinks we do. He also wrote that she needed to stop being unreasonable to us or it would be her looking for a new job!:D:

I was working at Muppets, parking strollers (back in the good old days when we had a greeter). I had just lined the strollers up neatly, leaving plenty of obvious space for new strollers. It was nearly time for me to bump off the clock and go home. A guest approached with a Disney stroller, which they proceded to park in an area not only away from the stroller parking area, but so they were blocking a guest and cast member path. They then saw me there, saw the stroller parking area, looked at me like "so, what are you going to do about it?" and walked into the attraction. I got my bump just at that time. So, I parked their stroller for them. At Star Tours! It was the end of the night and the greeter position was always dumped at that time too, so they had no one to ask when they couldn't find it. Sadly, I felt guilty after I did it, since they probably just helped themselves to some other poor guest's stroller rather than searching for their own.

Get revenge on a guest............. Extoll the virtues of Beverly!
I have done the same thing as BW when I get the occasional A$$hole SG. Those who think that I'm intruding on their day.
If I do need to answer a direct question after getting one of those guests, I answer, but won't ask questions to find out if my answer is correct.
Like the night SG's were going to Wolfgang Pucks Restaurant at the West Side. They did nothing but bitch , moan and complain that I was talking so when I was asked if this stop (marketplace) was the right one for Wolfgang Pucks, I said yes and they got off. Now if you want Wolfgang Pucks Express, yes, the marketplace is your best stop, but for the restaurant, PI is best. If they had not bitched about my speil, I would have asked them exactly which Pucks they wanted and then taken them to PI.

That's why you never see shootings in inter city schools. All the kids know everybody else is packing heat.
Sadly, this is simply not true. I was unaware until speaking to a group of teachers from inner-city Baltimore recently. They explained to me that the reason you never hear about it is that it happens too often! In most of those schools, somebody is stabbed or shot almost every week! Even one of the teachers in the group I was speaking to had been shot by a student! Isolated incidents happen so often that they're not newsworthy anymore. You only hear about it if several people get shot and the news can call it a "rampage."
An unarmed society is a living society! No other civilized country has the amount of shooting deaths we do... And it's not even because they've taken away *all* the guns. They still allow hunters to have them in limited amounts. And they watch all the same violent movies we do and even listen to our rap music. The rest of the civilized world thinks we're crazy to let anyone who wants one have a gun...:(

Or that they have to ride together, while standing in the single rider line.
I actually witnessed this for the first time during my last trip! A family of four was in the single rider line at RnR. When the CM started putting people into "limos" he tried to send one of the kids to a car. The father says "Oh no, we're all together." The CM's answer was an expression of confusion and the question on my mind too "Then why are you in the single rider line?" The SG's answer: "Well we saw this line was shorter and seemed to be moving faster, so it only made sense for us to get in this line rather than the other one!"
:oweye:
The best part: My roommate immediately says, loud enough for the SG to hopefully feel some humiliation and for the CM to laugh: "Wow! That's really F'ckin' stupid! <then to me> You're going to need to remember that one for that forum you're always on!":D:

And by doing so, you made magic for the couple and the rest of the audience who, for that moment, shared in the couples magic moment.
As a guest I regularly "make a moment" for the couples walking through the parks wearing the Bride & Groom ears. As I walk by I just simply say Congratulations, and continue on. Sometimes I see a moment of shock that some stranger knew about their special event and other times the big smile (and an occasional quick smooch with each other).
One nice thing about pixie dust, just like smiles, the more of it spread around the more there is available to be spread.

You definitely sound like a special CM! Do not let the beauracracy of the company destroy your love of working there. I hope we get a chance to meet you when we come in May. We had an awful experience on the Land attraction (I NEVER call any of the attractions at Disney *rides*. Walt called them attractions and that is what they always will be to me, a carnival has rides! Just a weird little pet peeve of mine, every time I hear someone referring to an attraction or adventure as a *ride* my skin gets creepy crawly and I get this itch in my fist that wants to punch the person! J/K, it just grates on me, they are NOT rides!!!!!!) I digress...
We had a loader at The Land put us into a seat on a boat and Ralphie and I are fairly big people. He is 6'1" and 225 and I am 6' and 215. That is pretty big together and we figured they would load a small person with us or no one at all. WRONG! The loader brings over a couple that scared the shit outa me. Each of them had to weigh at least 250 to 300 lb and they were short, 5'4" perhaps. THAT was the MOST uncomfortable position I have ever been put in at a Disney Park. I mean, the other couple could not have been very comfortable either! There was no room at all to move let alone breathe. After we disembarked, we went to Turtle Talk where we had another extremely scary incident. The CMs overloaded the theatre and you could NOT move in there. SRO and it was packed like sardines and we left. I hate to think what would have happened if a fire broke out:eek: We immediately went to Guest services and explained both incidents to a very nice GS man. He was very sympathetic. I KNOW they overlaoded the capacity on Turtle Talk, NO doubt in my mind. That was afire code violation and that is just not the Disney I am used to. The Land mishap was a misjudgement on the part of the CM loader and I understand mistakes, but that was just plain uncomfortable. This was back in May 2006. A while ago!
Anyway if you are still at The Land or Circle (which we love) we will come and say, hey, and give you a big hug! I like hugging people, it is such a nice way to say you ARE important! I know you would rather NOT be at The Land or Circle, but we will know where you are, if you keep us updated here and come see you!
My favorite attraction? Soarin....LOVE it!!!!!!!! we can do Soarin' over and over at both EPCOT and DCA. I could do Soarin' all day and be happy! It is so relaxing and cool inside and just fun! I want to try Kali River Rapids next trip. Missed them last trip.:( We do Grizzly River Run at DCA and I would think they are pretty similar. I watched a youtube ridethrough of Kali and it looks like you get a LOT wetter on that one than Grizzly, but then Florida IS a LOT hotter and more humid than SoCal. I am looking forward to a great Safari with our fearless Safari leader Big Wallaby! And of course. we will find Zazu for on of his *special* tours, I have heard so much about.
Ralphie took all my desires/preferences for our WDW trip in Spring to our Travel Agent and she is going to try to get our preferences. MK side, Contemporary Tower, 14th floor, and lake side view, Concierge level, Yacht Club, each for two weeks. We are also going to be doing side trips with our REALTOR!!! YAY!!!!! We are going to look at property and models around the WDW area, Reunion, Celebration, Windermere, since we want to build a new home to fit us. Who knows though, we may already be down there renting, if our plan gets set into motion! Cannot wait til Spring!!!!!! It will be along Winter, though hopefully not as much snow here as last year!!!!!!
I will take the *Snoape* at the The Magic Kingdom or DL anyday over the real shit you must shovel! We have some coming down RIGHT NOW here! And it supposed to snow off and on all weekend. Just a little, not a real blizzard. We got a quarter inch over night and that is nothing, but over the next 3 days we are supposed to get up to an inch every night and every day. Still not much, not enough to shovel this time. If Murphy's Law has it's way with me as usual, we will probably get a blizzard the day before we are supposed to fly out to Disneyland! It better NOT! We went through that crap last year! NOT this year, I will NOT allow it to ruin our trip!!!!!

Oh Cran! I did not mean to leave you out. I am so sorry! We are going to ride your bus everywhere we can! We will even get on your bus just to ride with you if we are not going to where you are driving to!!! It will be fun! I love bus drivers who interact with the guests.
I remember a very nice bus driver from our 2006 trip whom I have not forgetten, just his name:( . He was a very large African American guy that should have been a linebacker or offensive guard for the NFL, he was that big and built. He was so cool and one of the nicest people I have ever met. He chatted with me for so long (put up with me!:p: ) about everything and he was so good with the guests and was a great driver. I don't know if he is still there, but he was great!
Oh Cranbiz, do not weep, you will probably see more of us than you WANT to!
We will most certainly ride your bus!
And I hope that we could plan a meet for all of us while we are there. Dinner or lunch or whatever would work out for everyone's schedules! If not all can come to one, then we do another meet for those who can't make the other meet! :D: I want to meet EVERYONE who is a CM at WDW and comes to these boards! You know I loves me my CMs!!!!!!:grouphug:

Just don't ride with the guy on Safaris I rode with a week ago... to him, all the birds were pelicans, including the pink-backed pelicans, the greater pelicans, the marabou pelican and the saddle-billed pelican. We even saw some pelican eggs out on the savannah, which means the pelicans must be close!
Oh, and the Nile alligator, Thomson's gazelle which could leap the length of the bus and the other things I learned that weren't on any of the paperwork I've seen were all extremely interesting. Oh, how I wish I had had my recorder with me. I was a bit surprised the giraffes weren't the most ferocious animal on the Savannah.
Ride with me instead.

As to the Land incident, I'm sorry. I have been guilty of that once or twice when I started, but being a big guy myself, 6 foot 1, I know that can be uncomfortable. I try to judge as best I can but management is all but beating us with a stick to get our hourly counts up in the summer. But May??? that's kinda ridiculous. If you see me, I'll put you in your own row! ;) I'll be sure to keep you updated on where I am. I got to perm greet at soarin' for one day because I had a friend who was a co-ordinator over there and they were short. That was the best day of my life!!! I could not stop smiling. They even let me do the magical moment which entails pulling a family in the rotunda and backdooring them! That is so much fun! I got to do the load spiel and everything! (Some of the Soarin' cm's were shocked that I had it already memorized and they had been working there for a year and didn't know it...) I am the exact same way about soarin' I used to be OBSESSED with airplanes so it combines my two loves, Disney and Airplanes. I still think Disney would make a killing if they started their own airline... I'm getting sick of flying nowadays, everyone is so rude!!! Grr! Thanks again!!!

We try to call them attractions as much as possible but sometimes we have to dumb ourselves down for SGs. Like I work on The Land Boat Ride...see? If I wanted to sound really weird I could always say, I work at an attraction that explores the possibilities of agriculture, sponsored by Nestle!!!
Sigh...now I am emo again...
Find a happy place..."Excuse me what is Soarin'?"
It's a hang glider-type experience in which you are lifted approximately 50 feet into the air, are surrounded by the world's largest IMAX screen and you fly over California! Then when you fly over certain areas your senses are delighted by smells like Oranges, Sea Breezes, and Pine!
That's much better...

An attraction can have within it a ride but a ride can't have within it an attraction. A ride is a device that moves a patron from one place to another. So an Omnimover is a ride. A boat is a ride. But when you surround a ride with interresting objects that tell a story or invoke an emotion, the total becomes an attraction. So the HM is an attraction with a ride as one of the elements of the attraction. The Land Boat attraction has a boat ride as an element of the attraction. Some people focus so much on a single element of an attraction that they miss the other parts. They go on the "Space Mountain Ride" and miss the wonderful theming and effects that fill out the attraction.
IMHO

I not only want my own row at Soarin', I want the whole attraction to myself and Ralphie. NO SGs allowed in the building AT ALL! Well, maybe the whole SGT gang could join us, but NO one else. That would be sweet! We always get up to the front anf if we can't get front row, we ask the CM if we can wait for the next cycle. They always accommodate us. I hope that is not being a SG. We just LOVE being in the front row, does not HAVE to be center section, but front row is the best on Soarin' I have always been afraid to fly in airplanes and after last year when we hit level 3 or 4 turbulence, it made me even more asceered to fly, but I love Soarin' for the sheer joy of the coll breeze and the scents piped in and it just relaxes me. I have always wanted to try hand gliding which is so weird wioth my fear of flying. I think the fear comes fromthe fact that in a big airliner, I cannot se who is driving the thing. My dad's friend had a small plane, 4 seater and he used to come down when I was in college with my pop and pick me me up for trips up to the folks. They lived in the foothills of the Sierras in Grass Valley and I lived in the wine country a good 2 and a half-3 hour drive by car, but it was fun to go in an airplane! And I was not scared so much of those small planes, because I could see everything. I rode in a helicopter once that had the glass bubble front and that was a bit scary. I don't reallr trust helicopters too much.

But they are attractions with a ride vehicle, right. *Ride* is just part of the name of the attraction. I don't know why I am so picky about it, always have been, since I was a kid. It just seemed to me that Disney has immersible attractions and adventures, not just rides like a roller coaster with no theme, or a ferris wheel. (which by the way, Walt said he would NEVER put in his Park and that dumbass Eisner brought that carnival thingy to the Park back in the day and it failed miserably) I guess I have Disney running inmy blood. I like to be immersed in Disneyland's attractions when I am in one, like POTC, not thinking about the next *ride* I want to *go on*. I become a kid and lose track of time when I am at DL or WDW. Isn't that what Walt wanted? I have a great imagination and have no trouble suspending reality whilst in the Parks. I am lucky that way. We do not commando our way thorugh all the *rides* and meet and greets, we take it slow and enjoy every moment, scent, and sound sensation that is to be had in a Disney Park. That is the beauty of Disney compared to a carnival or County Fair that has *rides* not immersible experiences.:D:

Thank you for all the tips. We did stay on the lower concierge level last time, it was a different floor because they were rehabbing everything on the 12th floor and the lounge was right outside the elevators at that time. I liked that you could hear the ambient sound from below in the morning from Chef Mickey's. Some people don't want the *noise* It added to the feel that we were, in fact, at a Disney resort.:bouncemic: :D: I will have Ralph change the floor to the 12th. The lounge is back and rehabbing done so we will stay there. I don't need the *more space suites* and the *private floor* separate from the rest of the building.
I will also have our Realtor show us the places you mentioned. I will put them in my *Florida Move* binder!:D:
And we will *book* that tour early!:D:

When I was in the Army I'd get rides in Hueys and Rangers. It was great flying in the Hueys with the doors off on a warm day. I also got to go up with some crazies who were firing 17 pound rockets at tank hulks for target practice. There's nothing more exciting then having molten aluminum sprayed through the cockpit from the rockets exhaust. Hooooo Raaaaaaaa!!

If you want to have confidence in a helicopter, you oughtta try being in it when it's landed. Engine off. Now THAT'S a trip. Especially if you get someone who likes to hover a foot off the ground for about thirty seconds to bleed off rotor speed.
Now, in engine off operations in a helicopter, the key is what you do in the first ten seconds after the engine dies.
It's not like the time I found an instructor to take me up for spins, he cut the engine (with that little fuel shutoff switch between the seats) about 30 miles from the airport. I actually landed on the runway after running the pattern. Woohoo! It is unnerving looking at your propeller just sitting there doing absolutely nothing.
True, not as exciting as getting sprayed with molten aluminum. Nor is it as painful...

Soarin' is the BEST attraction, hands down at DCA. Course there ain't much there to compete with except that hideous *midway Paradise Pier carnival type thingy* anyway in Dee Cee A.

I had gone on it a long time ago when it was still Alien Encounter, and I thought it was pretty cool. Then, when I did SGE (I like your term for it) we were all rather disappointed. I mean, if you're trying to sell Stitch dolls, don't make it too blatant!
Speaking of which, Stitch is often all over the place at the gift shops. Surplus inventory?

The thing is once Disney finds something that is popular, they put it everywhere! Stitch was pretty successful is now EVERYWHERE. Same thing with Pixar. Personally I hate Stitch. SGE is a travesty of an attraction. AE was amazing, and I feel very blessed for having been in the very last show of it! I'll admit it was a little violent for Disney but it really worked well for teenagers and adults. Stitch is just terrible, ask any CM and they will tell you. Tomorrowland has become a terrible, terrible land. I mean the only thing I want to go on there is SM, TTA, and CoP. In fact there is a rumor circulating that they are going to close CoP to put in some sort of incredibles ride. NOOOOOOO!!! If they destroy one of the attractions Walt himself wanted kept open I will be livid. That's like tearing down the haunted mansion! GRR...
Only time will tell.

Keep in mind, they got rid of most of the bus drivers that talk or are even friendly or approachable.
Last night, I broke two buses from other drivers, both new within the last three (or fewer) months.
On my first bus, the MSiM system froze up on me and never came back, and I am sure you all know how much I cared. When I handed it off to another driver, she actually started getting panicky, because she was going to have to (GASP) talk to the guests, and she had no clue how to do it. She asked if I had tried recycling the bus, to which I said no, and she wanted to call a manager on me right there because I was such a horrible person. She said that that was what I was supposed to do, and I should have, and now I was stranding her with a bus in which the box didn't work.
I waited in the load zone on my last bus, and as it pulled up, the first thing I noticed was the lack of teeth when the driver grinned at me, and the ones he did have were rotting away before your very eyes. There was not a single white tooth in his mouth. Then, he opened the door, I stepped up into the bus and was quite overwhelmed at the smell of feces. I mean, the guy must have left a dookie in his pants to make it smell like that (later, going down the road, I got to thinking... I wonder if any of it got on the seat...:barf::gross::ewww:) So I turned on all the air conditioners I could, I opened all the windows, and did the walkaround to give the bus some time before I had to go back into it. The smell was worse than being at VM South when the wind was going the wrong way. If my opinion of this driver was at the bottom of the barrel, when he opened his mouth, my opinion started digging. All he wanted to do was complain, complain, complain about the company, the guests, and how much he had to walk because he works at Disney, and how much he hates exercise (the guy makes me look downright petite in comparison). All his complaining was loud enough to be heard very well by everyone around. I was actually embarrassed to be standing next to this guy.
I say all this to say that is what I see going on in buses, that is the quality of people I see them going for. I can't imagine that that's not going to start bleeding into other areas of the company, down to taking out the attractions Walt wanted there. I hope I am wrong, but I'm not holding my breath when it comes to waiting for the board of directors of Disney World to honor Walt's desires for the Florida Project.
The way one driver put it to me the other night, they really should put electrodes on Walt's body in his grave, and put him to use. Oh, the power he could generate from the way he must be spinning...and I just say that regarding buses.
Just once, I would like to watch as some of the top key people in the company say :walt:, just to see if they could do it with a straight face. If not, let their heads roll.
If it gets to that point, then let's put it up for a vote.
I nominate Zazu for President of Disney!

Ew that's gross...
Yeah, and they also got rid of the spieling on Land boats...
I am surprised at the sheer number of CM's that are afraid to Spiel or talk to guests. They put all the CM's who want to spiel into crap attractions. Then the CM's who don't want to spiel get GMR and quit because they can't do it. Hmmm I wonder why we have a cast shortage?
They won't let CM's move into jobs that they want so then CM's become miserable. Miserable CM's make for miserable guests and vice-versa. It's hard to not become disillusioned and be a bitter cast member. I can barely get in touch with my managers. It takes like two weeks to get an e-mail back, if I get one at all...
Sigh...I'm going to go eat my feelings...

Wallaby: Ugh! I guess my family and I are lucky because we haven't come across anyone like that... yet. There's always our week this upcoming March. We haven't really had any issues with buses, but if what you're describing becomes more common, then maybe...
Also, it seems like there are some pretty nice people running the Friendships between Epcot and the Studios (almost said MGM). I'm not sure what your perspective is on that, but some of them seem to at least slightly enjoy spieling.
CMGUY89: We did get more legroom on the front of the Land boats. But it makes me wonder if SGs will be emboldened to stand up, get out, or otherwise disrupt the attraction. I know there are warnings and video cameras everywhere, but I always figured a CM would be a good deterrent.
I'm old enough to remember when CoP had "Now is the Best Time Of Your Life" instead of "It's a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow". It'd be a shame if they took that down. We've gone as recently as last December and the show was sparsely attended, but it was nice to see a "vintage" attraction.
I always do find time to hit Space Mountain at least once when I get down there. My parents do love Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. I often find myself on TTA just for a place to sit down for ten minutes.
I do agree that they could do more with Tomorrowland. It's also probably the hottest part of the park, with almost no shade, it seems. Perhaps they could bring back DreamFlight (which I vaguely remember from when I was 8 or 10...)

Trust me guests DO stand up and get out of boats. Some of my best memories are of sitting back at VM and watching guests get out of boats, steal pumpkins, and get back in. Then I feel like a moron when I say "Please refrain from stealing pumpkins" over the PA in the Greenhouse. The legroom is nice though. I enjoy those early morning SQ checks where I stretch out and do my little checklist. Although once my checklist got blown out of the boat in the aquacell, that was embarrassing to explain to a manager. I loved Dreamflight! It was one of my favorites.
Thanks for the encouragement Wallaby, I appreciate it. I have already started talking to some Managers over at the studios to see about getting a better placement there than I did at FWW. I unfortunately can't apply till I come down for the summer, you have to have like 6 weeks of availability for a transfer. LOL, I will find my fit soon, I just need someone to pat me on the back every once in a while and tell me everything will be ok...

It's only being an SG if the CM tells you to go to say, row 3, you go to your row, he fills in 10 people behind you (Okay not sure if that many fit in one row, but I'm trying to make a point here) then as the doors open, you leave the row, go back to the CM and then say, oh can we have the front?
Never do that. When we get up to the front of the long line and they ask how many, we always will tell them then. Once in the Intro area, STAY in that area.

How can there be a *good* Ssssss Geeeeee? By definition a Stupid Guest is a stupid guest. If they were nice, they would not be an SG, right? :D:They would be like us, the good and nice guests who post here at SGT!:D: Or just maybe a good SG is like me, someone who has made a mistake in the past and has atoned for it and become a champion for the CMs...
I pulled something stupid once at Disney. All that Pixie Dust in my eyes you know, made it hard to see and make a good decision. I remember the incident well, that I am not proud of it. I will prostrate myself here for a good punishment.:(
We went to DL back in 99 and I remember having PMS that trip. Not a good omen to begin with... I did not have much fun the whole trip:( I used to get PMS pretty bad and took it out on everyone else. That was not a nice thing to do. But this particular morning, we went to board the monorail to get into the Park from the DL Hotel, because we were told the night before by the front desk CM we just had to go to the monorail to go in. So we get up to the front of the line for the monorail and they say NO, you have to take the tram to get your ticket stamped at the front gate to activate it to get in. Now in my defense, the CM at the Hotel desk the night before, never told us about the ticket having to be activated. (In my opinion, at that time, we could have taken the monorail and gone to the gate and had it activated there. What was the big deal. I know NOW what the big deal was, someone could have had an expired ticket or fake and gotten in with it.)
Anyway I was hot:twisted: being told we had to take the tram and go to the front gate and wait in line to get in. It was our first morning there, after getting in late the night before and we had an early breakfast in the Park. So I went back in to the Hotel lobby and proceeded to give major lip (Yes I am ashamed to say I yelled!:o: ) to the poor CM behind the counter about the inconvenience and the fact that we had not been told and I was angry. You think?? Then I stomped out and got on the tram and we went to the park for our breakfast in the Park. Hubby took pics of me at the breakfast table and I am reminded to this day of my orneriness that morning. Lovely facial expressions, NOT! They are paper pics, not digi and I won't post em here. I was an asshole and I know it. They used to do the Breakfast in the Park at the Tomorowland Terrace.
I should NEVER have yelled at the poor CM who was at the desk that morning, it was not his fault that we had not been told that we had to get the passes activated to get in. I apologize to whomever that was. I am sure I was labelled much worse than a SG by him. He probably referred to me as *that bitch* later. So yes, I have been an ass at the Parks, but never since that one incident. I felt bad later, after my PMS wore off and felt ashamed at myself. To this day, that is one of my worst Disney memories, treating a CM that way. I go out of my way to treat CMs with dignity and compassion now. I have grown up and now that PMS is a thing of the past and I am in menopause and on *happy* pills, I try to keep that under control. And I definitely ask questions instead of yelling and going off on someone. I am more likely to go off on a SG than anyone else these days.
Ah, my soul feels lighter! Confession IS good for the soul! I have a SG past and I am not proud of it. Though that was the ONLY time I ever did that to a CM. Bad timing, the planets were all lined up for it to occur.
I feel duly punished....Can you ever forgive me for my momentary lapse of reason on that occasion back in 1999?:o: Pleeeeeease?:o:

Well Susi, whenever I get yelled at I try to think of what happened that day to make that person upset. My theatre teacher once told me that she was yelled at while working at a restaurant. Then later on the spouse of the man who yelled at her came up and apologized, as the man's son had been diagnosed with terminal cancer three hours before. So don't worry too much. While you may have been temporarily labeled as "that bitch" I don't think your memory still persists there. I actually didn't read through the whole list the first time, but the first few items actually sound awesome. I totally need a Tangerine Couscous Salad! Does anybody know if that's vegetarian? It sounds like it could be... :)
Edited to add: and anybody who hasn't had the joy of Veggie Samosa (about half way down the list) hasn't lived! I've never had it from Disney World (hey Churchy, any idea where I can get that from?) But there's a place right near my work that makes it and it's incredible! It's one of those Indian foods where you might not be exactly clear on what you're eating, but it tastes great and smells even better...and those are the only things that really matter, right?
2 and 1/3 gallons of gas at the Hess station. (today)Not any more; Hess has stopped selling gasoline.
They now sell a blend of 10% ethanol. It's got about 4% less energy per gallon than unadulterated gas, resulting in a similar loss of mileage, but they charge the same price as other station selling the pure stuff.
Now I'm all for saving the planet (it's my favorite one), but if you want to sell me substandard product, you'd jolly well better have substandard pricing to match.

I seem to remember reading a news artical about a year ago that said somenting to the effect that it takes more energy to produce ethanol that it saves in energy or gives in return. The article talks about a farmer that had produced corn, and had figured the bushel per acre cost was higher than the return on producing for the ethanol plant! (without government subsides)

They can't do it. The stuff (ethanol) simply costs too much to make. Further, the amount of energy that goes into making and transporting it makes it so that, after you factor in how much less energy you get from it, it pollutes as much as, and in some cases more than, normal gasoline.
Before I hear any arguments about how the stuff with ethanol is cheaper in certain states (the corn growing ones mostly) that's because those state governments are subsidizing it every step of the way. That's done with tax money, so sure, the gallon of polluted inefficient gas might be cheaper, but you're still paying for it with your taxes. (Not to mention the fact that the loss of energy and, as a result, gas mileage generally overwhelms any savings from the cheaper gas anyway.)
Everyone here should know by now that I'm a big bleeding heart liberal, but c'mon let's get some real ideas on how to save the earth... I know there are some out there, but they don't put enough money into the pockets of big business to make them worthwhile to our government yet!
side note: anybody seen those car commercials where some car company is advertising that they're ready to roll out hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as soon as america has the infrastructure for it? You have to laugh at that. Never gonna happen. Hydrogen would be so expensive to make and, beyond that, would be *way* worse for the environment than gasoline (the production side of H2 is what's bad, not the use so much)...

I found one, but it is not likely to ever make it to the US. Saw this in a Popular Mechanics in the last year.
In India there is a vehicle manufacturer that is about to start selling a 6 passenger taxi van that runs on ......AIR!
There is a large high pressure air tank (about 2400psi) that will power the vehicle for about 250 miles at highway speeds. And at filling stations (in the cities where the taxis will be used) the tank can be refilled in under 4 min. Or an on-board pump can be plugged in and fill the tank in 8 hours.
I figure that if such a vehicle came to the US, many gas stations would put in a simple solar powered air pump and tank. The ongoing expense of the additional possible income stream would be almost nill. So for a relatively small outlay there would be a potential income from selling a product that would be nearly all profit. A good inducement for a rapid spread of a new "fuel". Heck, in some of the plains states they could even convert water windmills into air pumps and the tanks can be the same type used for propane storage that are prevalent in the rural areas around here. No, new, untried technology involved.
One reason given for the reason these vehicles won't come to the US, the vehicle is all plastic and glued together and the US regulations don't accept a glued together car as valid.
I want one. Just think, I could coat the roof with solar cells and while the car is in the parking lot all day the small air pump could be constantly topping off the tank. As long as I don't drive more than 250 miles at night I'd never run out of "gas". There are only two times a year that that would be a concern. The day I drive from IL to WDW and the day I drive back home. Any other time I just don't drive that far.

It just wasn't feasible for long distances and at the time, it was more cost effective to use Dino fuel.
For the industrial user, these loco's worked great.

Beating, flogging, what's a little pain among friends? With all the beating/flogging going on it was probably a Freudian slip to type moral.

About a month before I started work, apparently he came and rode the Land. Then he went upstairs to see the Circle of Life and walked out halfway through! How sad is it when even he won't watch that movie??? We found one person who preaches more than he does, Simba!!!

That would be two. The second was shared with the Klingon ambassador.

Having not watched the show extensively, I just wanna play devil's advocate: maybe Klingons are just misunderstood! (I know Al Gore is...)
Then again, having rethought the issue, I'm all for a little global warming. I live just far enough up hill that I'd have beach front property for a while! Until the next group of houses behind mine gets a view to enjoy....
Edited to add: what kindergarten class do they have doing paintings for the inside cover of Nobel Prizes...having never received one (it's an honor just to be nominated though!) I had no clue they put crappy art in them...kinda makes you want to go hang your nobel prize on the refrigerator "Mommy, look what I did today!"

Ah, so Algore's joining the cows in producing a major part of the problem now, eh?

Hope he has his name stenciled in his clothing, that way we'll know who they belong to when he is done venting gas!!

And those carbon offsets so help the economy!
Actually, because I use so little carbon, I'm thinking I might as well cash in and start selling offsets. Starting at $100,000. I just need to sell one a year.
Is the sale of a carbon offset tax-free? :D:

Tax Free? Umm sure...only if you are a LARGE campaign contributer, you guess which party!!

Well, then, I guess it won't be tax-free for me. But that's okay, $100,000 is $100,000. Sure, I can live on what comes to me after taxes on that. So I might have to sell two or three per year.
