I apologize for the extended downtime, but I ran into some unexpected problems and wanted to be sure everything was perfect before opening the site again.
Unfortunately during the process some files were lost. Users that have recently uploaded or updated their avatars will need to re-upload. Also, some smilies will be MIA until they are found again.
I'll be playing around with the updated software over the next few weeks so you may see a couple changes here and there. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on any major changes.
As always, if anybody encounters any problems with the forum let me know.

Thanks for reminding me I need to update the few threads I bookmarked. I usually save threads by subscribing to them but a few, like the Acronym thread, I bookmarked.
It was a little annoying this morning when I loaded the links in the few emails I recieved about thread updates that the links were bad.
I also had to change the filter I use to mark the emails as the address used to send them is different now.
EDIT:
Now I'm cussing. I search for the subject of the threads I bookmarked and get told:
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search :
The words not included are the main words of the subject! I just tried searching for "Acronyms, Codes, and Other Terms" and got told the "Other" wasn't searched for and got the same error but I search for just "Acronyms" and find the thread (along with a lot of others). If I can find the thread searching for "Acronyms" shouldn't I be able to find it searching for the entire subject?
The other threads I'm looking for are "New CM, well almost" (with "New, well, almost" removed, the entire subject nearly) and "What have attractions been called?" (with "What, have, been"). I know that if I search for just "CM" or "attractions" I would wind up with a million results to sort through.

Look toward the top of the page and if you have to scroll over, you will see a new bar that is blue with headers. "Forums" is on the far right side of that bar of headers. Took me a while to find it, I had to scroll over, it was off the side of my computer.

I found that when I was writing posts, I would go to post reply and it would tell me I needed to be logged in to post. Lost a few really good posts that way. Now I just copy them before I post and if it kicks me out, I have it saved and can go back and re-enter and paste my original post. Weird. Maybe there is a time limit on how long you can take to write a post. I was taking a while, it was early in the morning and my arthritic fingys don't work as well until the morphine kicks in.:(

Strange, your permissions all check out. You should be seeing what everything else is seeing. Ok, we've been doing good now for a few days and the only problems seem to be caused by things outside of my direct control, which gives me a well needed sigh of relief.
The two biggest issues have either been caused by cookie issues or by people using links/bookmarks that lead to the site that are no longer valid.
For the login/cookie issues, please make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies from stupidguesttricks.com, and provided you are using a non-shared computer also check the "remember me" option when you log in.
Regarding the links; the file structure has been changed a bit to allow for a cleaner (and easier) interface. Those of you that have personal bookmarks set to lead to the site and the posts contained here will need to update them. Also, there are several other websites and search engines that link directly to posts, pages, and files that are found here. These links will no longer function properly until each search engine or website updates them. The safest bet if you wish to link to SGT is to link to the main page (http://www.stupidguesttricks.com), as that will always remain the same.

Thanks, Polar for your hard work. One question though, are we going to get the ability to multiquote anytime> That is the main thing lacking from this forum IMO.
Anybody have any ideas where the threads I'm looking for are? Here's what I posted about it the other day:

Whoops, that was supposed to go live when the upgrade took place. I'll be changing the icon sometime so that it matches the others, but you can now use multi-quote by using the button next to the "quote" button.

I'll see what I can do to improve the search reliability. Unfortunately, the vBulletin search feature isn't always very user friendly and I'm not sure if I'll be able to to do a whole lot to improve it.
It may be easier to change the bookmarks urls directly. The old link would start with "www.stupidguesttricks.com/vb3/ (http://www.stupidguesttricks.com/vb3/)", if you remove the "vb3/" so that it only starts with "www.stupidguesttricks.com/ (http://www.stupidguesttricks.com/)" it should fix it. May I make a suggestion?
First off, I do like the new format, and I do like having the buttons in the blue bar across the top: Home, UserCP, Register, Calendar, Members, FAQ, Search, Forums.
Since the board shows you where you are within the forums: StupidGuestTricks.com > General Discussion > Cast Communications > And we're back! . . .
Would it not be good to have an easy way to get back to the top of the forums? IE: the page that shows all the different forums? My thought is that if you click on the blue button "Home" that should take you to the "front page" of SGT.com, but clicking on StupidGuestTricks.com takes you back to the same place, and not the main forum page.
Cujo, Polar, Zazu, do you follow what I'm saying?

Absolutely. I actually always assumed that it did do that, but since I never navigate the site that way I never noticed that it didn't. I have some time coming up that I plan on doing a bit of housekeeping around the site, so I'll add this issue to be worked on then.

I used to use Explorer. After I clicked on a link one time and got a very nasty virus, I swore that I would never use Explorer again. I use explorer on one or two sites that won't load properly on Firefox - probably because the web site code is written to optimize explorer.
Firefox is great in that it will block pop-ups all by itself. It also allows you to configure the pop up blocker to allow pop-ups for one (or more) sites only.
I also like the tab feature, where you do not have to have multiple explorer windows up and switch to them, but you can have ONE Firefox up and switch sites via tabs.
If you try and load a site and you need some plug in for something, it will tell you what you need, and if you click on it, it will d/l it for you. Usually you do not even have to reload Firefox.
Firefox is constantly being upgraded.

The new Netscape is based on Firefox code? How ironic considering that Firefox was originally based on Netscape code.
I love Firefox. I even have a shirt and a Firefox plush from them.
There's a reason why Explorer is nicknamed Exploder. It is so buggy and full of holes it isn't funny. M$ also doesn't follow the web standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and instead set their own standards. This is why some pages do not show up right in Firefox, the webmaster wrote it using IE standards instead of the web standards. The W3C is who makes up the web standards and the different HTML variants.

So I should get rid of The Exploder and go with Firefox? :confused:I guess I just need time to learn it. It looked so different and I was nervous I had done something wrong when I loaded it. You all think Firefox is better, it sounds like. We have been very lucky with Explorer, never had a virus from it yet, Knock on wood...I guess there will be a first time sometime...
I will have to consult with Ralphie about this again...Firefox...hmmmmmm...

I also like the tab feature, where you do not have to have multiple explorer windows up and switch to them, but you can have ONE Firefox up and switch sites via tabs.Agreed, and it's even more awesome that you can click on a link with the scroll wheel on your mouse and the page opens up in a new tab. It's how I browse the new messages on SGT -- go through the listing of topics with new messages and open each on a new tab. Can't be beat.

I use that feature ALL the time. When checking my subscription emails I click the link with the scroll wheel so it opens in a new tab, otherwise it would open in a new window as that is Gmail's default. I open one link, delete the email, open the next email, open link, delete, and so on until all the subscriptions are open.
I also use it when checking the board itself.

Okay, I'll respond to the business post first. I love that feature too. Other people walk by and see me on SGT with forty-seven tabs open, responding often to multiple posts at once, and out of the corner of my eye, I see them just shake their head and walk off without a word. They've given up on wondering why I have so many tabs open at once.
It's also great for comparing information, because you can have multiple pages and just flip between them, compare, flip back, compare, look at something else, and go back to the original page with ease.
Another thing that is nice, because Firefox is an open source program, people can come along and develop plugins for it. One of my favorites is one where I always have the weather displaying in my browser, in the lower toolbar. I can be posting, get ready for work, take one last look at my browser before I walk out the door and decide if I need to take an umbrella. If there's severe weather on the way, it even gives you a little pop-up, you can click it for more information. There's also a plug-in where you can click the edge of the screen and it opens up a second window at the same time as your original window is open, and that's even better for comparing.
Wow, reading that, I can't deny my attention deficit. I can't group like ideas together to save my life.
But anyway, that multi-window thing is great on my 22" widescreen display. Right now, I am looking at SGT four times on my screen, in four different threads. It's lovely.
Who Wants To Be Normal?!Hey, now, there was a time when I did... And then I realized what I really wanted to be was regular. Thankfully, I am... but never normal.

During stormy weather, I love the radar icon that pops up a current animated radar image just by rolling your mouse over it!

Just to entice you more... I have two more add-ons to Firefox. One lets me download embedded videos -- so I can keep copies of things I find on YouTube etc. The other is called Ad-aware. It blanks out all the advertising on pages.
You want this... you need this... give in to the siren call of Firefox... :)

Ah, ad block plus (probably what you're thinking of, ad-aware is anti-spyware).
Forcast fox is on mine as well, also colorful tabs. Firefox rules, I like it over Safari too :)

Which program is that again? It's called DownloadHelper. It puts an icon on your menu bar that animates when there is downloadable content on the page. You click the icon and select the item you want from the menu that pops up, and it downloads. Nice and easy.
