GRAD NIGHT!!! WHY THE HELL AM I WORKING GRAD NIGHT!!@ OH FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST@#$ WHERE ARE THE SHIFT CHANGE FORMS!!

Ahhh yes, Grad Nights. They were fun if you played your cards right, but man, that was a long shift full of annoying kids.

My favorite memories were of course the infamous grad night spiel on JC (which you can read in entirety on the Hijinks Website) and also, all the sex and drugs and drinking and general debauchery that occured throughout the park.

Pirates was a particularly fun attraction during Grad nights, what with all he humping and pot smoking. I even heard tell of some uncouth cast members who decided to take flashlights down to the area right before the jail scene where it's very dark. When pot smokers would come by, they would shine the light in the kids faces and confiscate their dope. I am sure I disposed of it properly...I mean they, the cast members that did this, disposed of it properly.
:pbjtime:

Any memories out there from the rest of you?

11 years and I never had to work a single grad night (thank heaven!) - the few times I did get scheduled, I managed to shift change them away...

We did have one residual memory over at the Mansion one morning after a grad nite. Found the teeniest bra (probably the flattest chested senior ever) in one of the omnimovers. That thing was pinned to the bulletin board in service for a few days afterwards. I always wondered if her date was dissappointed...

Wooooahhh.. God what was I thinking last year... Grad nights on Space.... I was about to blow up.. between all the screaming and yelling, and the girl who went into convulsions 10 minutes into her night on the concourse because she ODed. and the Fat guy bending a pole because he sat on the chains and then he attempted to sit on a rope... yeah well that broke and he fell flat on his ass and all I could do was laugh and tell him "I told you 4 times that a chain wouldn't hold your weight, what makes you think that rope would?"

Bwahahahahahaaaa!

Guests falling down (as long as they aren't hurt) are always funny. I saw SO many kids take headers when running around like loons. They always do the same thing too: they look around and if the parents aren't watching they get up, if the parents ARE watching.... Waaaahhhhhhhhhh!

ohhhhh...the best was watching kids clothesline themselves when we still used to use ropes for parade g.c. We'd set up the cut off ropes, the dopey kids would still be running up and down the street (mom and dad conveniently ignoring them) and then ---BOING !!! Was always a treat to see their little eyes go *pop* when they hit the ropes

I just snorted Pepsi out of myt nose, LOL. I remember seeing that a few times too! How about people trying to step over a chain or rope and getting the family jewels slammed when they slipped. That was always good!

I like to watch the tall guys who think they can go through our old-style turnstiles one leg at a time. It's always higher than they think it is!

Also amusing are folks who have stuffed the leg pockets of cargo shorts. They can get into the turnstile just fine, but getting out....

I once did something similar to a fellow CM. He stepped over a rope at the same time that I unhooked the same rope from the pole to go around it as we're supposed to. I pulled it up and *WHACK*

Some of my weirdest experiences happened on Grad Nights..... On Autopia at Back Bridge I'd bust half a dozen kids a night toking up, same on Skyway (with the added excitement of a used condom!) Also on Autopia we'd have to scour the bushes for hidden liquor, same thing in the Sub Caverns.

There was the kid hyped up on PCP who went for a swim in the motor boat lagoon and I had to swim and and get him and turn off the boat so the prop didn't chop him up.

And of course the night I was on Skyway when the People Mover became the people eater..... oh yeah, loved those crazy Grad Nights!

you probably remember the lady who sued the park because she claimed that her daughter got pregnant on the People Mover (Dragger). I knew one of the old leads over there who was wishing that the stupid monitors had video recording so that we could replay the tapes with this stupid woman and her money-grubbing lawyer...can't you just picture the conference? "OK, ma'am, could you please point out the exact moment in the ride when you think that conception occured?"

I only worked 1 out of the 6 years of Grad Nights I was there. I wasn't scheduled, but someone needed it off. I agreed to do it, not really knowing why, but hey I was young, and it was approved.
At about 1am after watching 6 security officers tackle some kid on PCP, which was the highlight of the evening, my lead figured out that I was a minor and shouldn't be working. They told my supervisor and I ended up staying. We all snuck over to the Premier Shop and would catch kids having sex in those huge phone booths or disconnect their phone calls.
Finally, I went home by choice a little early, walking down the hall of shame to my locker room. The hall was were they put the kids who lost the park priviledges, but had to wait until the night was over. Where do they put those people now?

That was the 2nd year I was there. I was never scheduled a grad night.

I worked plenty of Grad Nights in my 4 summers, most of them on Pirates. My first one was on Mansion, though, not long after I started and was first trained. My first trip down in the ER I gave the spiel and everyone just lit into me with hoots and hollers and misc. badgering. The phone rang on the way down and it was the lead saying that I didn't have to give the spiel on Grad Nights, just take them down. Thank God! Sadly, most of my other Grad Night memories involve watching Stevie B. on the River Stage three times a night while on Pirates.

I remember one very interesting grad nite... It started like they all do on Pirates, wild kids, pot and beer. There was one couple who came in toward the end, so it was slow enough that we ended up giving them their own boat. By the time they got to drop 1, they were fully going at it. My friend who was in the tower thought it might be fun to give them a little extra time at drop 2. So she hit the stop. Well, they weren't expecting the boat to stop and they lost their balance and fell over. It was the funniest thing I ever saw.

Ohhhh - that's a good one (wish I'd thought of it while I was still there!!!)

BTW, I wouldn't advertise my location if I were still an active employee. Please note the warnings over at the Cast Communications forum...

I worked 3 grad nights in the 9 months i was there in 2000-2001. I thought it was funny to be called "The Trenchcoat Mofia" while doing GC at the front gate then Going over to castle/goofy bus. I was happy for the 1 hr really eairly breakfast break. I also loved wacthing the kids falling asleep on main street and having to wake them up, just so I could go home and sleep for 4-6 hours and then come all the way back for my book/ fantasmic shift. God I loved the OT Pulling 2-3 shifts in one night. :D

My favorite grad nights consisted of me being the lead and cycling empty rockets until the kids were quiet enough for 1)us to be able to hear each other so we could keep the ride up, and 2)them to be able to hear the quiet speil that I was giving telling them that if they didn't bring the volume down we were going to have to shut down.

I've always wanted to work one grad night on mansion just so I could get on the PA and say "stop boning please." I think that would've been neat.

"I'm sorry folks, but there is no eating allowed on this attraction.."
"Please remain in an upright position in your doom buggy."
Or if you happen to be at exit when their vehicle comes in.."congradulations..you've won the kewpie doll!"

(or better yet, just applaud as they arrive in said vehicle. Most effective when three or more CM's are gathered there to do the applauding.)

I know it's not near the Grad NIght time, but For some reason I just thought of this. So we were doing the oh so wonderful DOSH Inspection on the Mark Twain... NOCC stage schedulers call and ask If I want the OT... so I say sure why the hell not. Day one of the DOSH Inspection... well they never made it to the Twain... they spent all day at the Mansion, so we had to comeback on the Next Day... Same thing... Sure Why the hell not... I'll take the OT. So I have to be there at 5 AM... Uh, the Boat opened at 10 AM... What the hell... Anyway, I'm running on like 45 minuets of sleep cause I met someone and was out all night with them.
So It's now like 4:30 AM, in the midst of one of the last Grad Nights... I have my sunglasses on and start my journey to the River by way of Tomorrowland. As soon as I enter the Tomorrowland Terrace area... I get bombarded by retards... "Do you Know when my Bus Leaves?" "DO you know where my bus is?" All my reply was "No, it's 4:30 in the morning, my ride dosen't open until 10... leave me the hell alone."
Needless to say DOSH was stupid, and just had us take a trip... we were finished at 6:45... So it was all about Nap time in the Captians Quarters.

no, there was no accordian playing... I was tempted to play with all the Fantasmic stuff on the Twain, but it seemed that at the time, sleep was a little more important.
