So, fun experience time again. Time to close our line at 10PM. So, Im selected to run down to the enterance of my ride and close the line with trashcans. I then run back (my line enterance is like a bajillion miles away from our dock, major downside of my ride) to dock and check our second to last train.

Heres where the fun begins.

We dispatch the train, and low and behold...some moron instantly thought that "Huh? Trashcans in front of an enterance? THEY MUST BE OPEN! WEEEEE!"

He then runs up with his friend to our dock, as our closing music plays. Everyone on dock tells him its closed, to instantly he goes "BULLSHIT!," great...hes a stupid and angry guest. We tell him the musics playing, we had our line closed, and told him hes not riding.

"BULLSHIT, YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS. I DIDNT RUN HALF WAY ACROSS THE PARK TO NOT RIDE THIS! IM RIDING AND YOU CANT TELL ME OTHERWISE!"

Whatever, we told him he wasnt riding and if he wanted to talk to our SL, he could. He told us to fuck ourselves. And while we were loading our last train of the night, he hops onto the train, slams his lapbar down, and proceeds to go "Now what, huh?" Ugh. Thanks to your actions, now we have to call security, hold the train because you jumped in, and escort you out of the park. We do, he whines and cries, blah blah blah. Security kicks him off while he cries some more, blah blah blah. Hes finally escorted off the dock and out of the station as everyone claps and we send the train. What a freakin moron.

Ah the no taking bullshit from ANY guest while working an attraction. The only thing I miss when I was at Knott's. Congrats to you for not backing down. I always love the "but, but..I really want to." How would it be if we went to this guy's job and pulled that nonsense? I'm sure security is on speed dial for those jerks. But unfortunately, he won't ever learn cause tomorrow someone else will let him get his way. Where did that stupid guest gun get to? :shoots as guest then falls down into a deep sleep for 5 minutes:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Aren't I so mean?)

Good for you & good for security for standing your ground! -of course, it's a lot easier to kick someone out of the park when it's almost time to close anyway, but...
Well done!

Always nice to see the idiots who just "need" to ride this ride so of course it is only common sense to wait until the last possible second before the park closes.

I remember one time I was operating Charlie Brown Speedway, and the park was ready to close, so I announced that this was going to be the last ride of the night. Next thing I know, every friggin' wetback standing along the fence is handing their kids over the fence to ride! I've have people try to get as many people in those cars as possible--like they were clown cars or something! Hey, you with the missing brains, those cars only hold two people ! As I recall, I called my shift leader and they helped me get everything straightened out. I HATED closing that ride--well, actually, I hated that ride, period. but it was amazing how many people couldn't count to two! :banghead:

He thinks that just because he got in the train, that means you'll give up and give him a ride anyway. That's funny!

I had a similar incident on the Monorails one night. We have certain cars that are reserved for people with wheelchairs. This doesn't mean empty stroller that you are too lazy to move or fold, The sign in the car plainly states Wheel chairs. Well at closing one night, I had exactly that situation. The train was full and I had a wheel chair to put on. The person in the wheel chair car, had an empty stroller. his kids were sitting next to him on the seat. I asked him to fold the stroller so I could put the wheelchair on. He told me no because of all the stuff he had in it. I told him to move it over to the other side of the train by the far doors, he told me no, and I need to use a different car. I told him all other cars are full. He told me he wasn't moving. I told him I have all night, this train is not leaving until the wheel chair is on board. He told me he didn't care he wasn't moving. I called security, and they sent this petite quiet talking person up to the station. She went and told the person to move he again said no. She, in a calm voice told him to move or her next call would be county, and they wouldn't play with him, they would drag him out and cuff him in front of his children. Then she asked him, is this what you want? She proceeded to reach for her radio, the guy, slamming things around, folded the stroller. Everybody on the platform applauded that he FINALLY did what was asked. The wheelchair went on and the train, (16 minutes late) left the station.

People I get paid by the hour not the train cycle, I can wait

Perhaps it would help if they were banned from the park for a period of time, had thier ticket revoked if they were an AP.

Seriously, when security has to escort someone out, are there any consequences beyond the loss of whatever was left of the day?

I also heard of a story that a guest wanted to take the monorail to DTD just because she parked in DTD and didn't want to pay for parking there. She blamed it on the monorail CMs that if she had to pay for parking at DTD. Well, the only problem was that the monorail....................................WAS CLOSED!!!! LOL :D

Seriously, when security has to escort someone out, are there any consequences beyond the loss of whatever was left of the day? There can be. I watched Security punch a hole in the mag stripe of an Annual Pass near the end of the first day it was used. They just lost $67 less than the cost of the AP!

Of course, they were so upset that they thought they had won when they got their perforated pass back. Gonna make for an interesting time at the turnstiles the next day! :p:

Good for you for sticking on this one. I've got friends that travel in wheelchairs, and I've seen more than one monorail operator bend and let the guests leave their strollers in the wheelchair spaces, or worse, make the w/c guests wait for the next train.

I've been told that if your offense is severe enough to be escorted from the park, then you're generally banned from the property... which means if you're staying in a Disney hotel, your room will be packed and bags left just off-property. If you return, you can be arrested for trespassing.

So the offender's bags will be:

a) on the bridge on Epcot Center Drive when it crosses I-192 ?
b) on the corner of 535, across from Crossroads ?
c) at the end of Sherberth Road, near I-192 ?
d) where World Drive crosses I-192 ?
e) where Osceola Parkway crosses I-4?

At sierra sidewinder we would put 2 trashcans and a chain at the entrance and guaranteed every night at closing, some idiot would jump over the trashcans or ask "is it closed"?

Ghostrider was worse because the entrance is so far from the dock.

Actually the answer is
F. Far East as in your bags will be shipped to your last known residence via ground delivery and it first go to some country like Thailand. Oh and sometimes our Cast Members lose things like last week one lost limburger cheese and their favourite wind-up clock in the bags of a disruptive guest. BOOM, gigglesnort, oops the TSA thought there was a stink bomb in the luggage.

Limburger cheese: $7.50
Wind-up clock $5.00
The look on the face of the SG when TSA *detains* them, strip searches them and puts them on the no fly list!: PRICELESS!

What sorts of things would get a guest kicked out of the Park and banned? I am just curious as it seems that lots of Ssssssss Geeeeeees get away with lots of stupid shit. The spitting story on another thread would seem to me to one one that SHOULD have gotten the guests thrown off property and banned for at least some time.

I had a guest throw a beer can off a spinning ride while I was working at Six Flags, which got him thrown out of the park.

Had another throw a chair out the front window of the Disney hotel where I was working overnights. He was banned from Disney property. Funny thing about that one, he was mad because his wife had left her purse on the Disney bus. They were on the last bus of the night, and since the purse didn't end up at dispatch, of course the bus driver must have stollen it. He was actually mad at his wife, though, for losing the purse in the first place. He swore at us for not finding it, returned to apologize, paced the lobby for a second, picked up a chair, and flung it through the window. He then immediately realized what he had done and was still apologizing as they hauled him off in handcuffs. I think he WANTED to be thrown out at that point he felt so bad about losing his temper. Hope he got anger management classes.

At Six Flags, we had a pretty open security policy. We were right outside Chicago, and concerned about gangs. ANY bad behavior and the employees were encouraged to call security, who pretty much were going to throw the person out if they got called. WE kicked people out for not following safety procedures, line jumping, back talking the employees, or being too roudy. I loved that job!

I think throwing a chair through a window would let you jump to the head of the SG list!! Over something that he had no control over?? I bet THATS a happy family life!!

Yikes. I don't understand getting mad enough to do that. When I was a teen I used to, and then I grew out of it.

So many things SG's do that one should grow out of before they reach about 21 or so...

Many of them don't. I deal with a different kind of SG in my work, but the actions and reactions remain the same. A sense of entitlement, a sense that everyone else's point of view is not important, and a sense that if someone sees or says something differently, they are wrong. those attitude coupled with having never been told they are wrong, because it's not "PC" to correct always leads to trouble.

The CM's are getting the brunt of this, while other professions can, and do, put it back onto the SG.

And you hit the nail on the head about being a teen. I actually had someone tell me they thought it was okay to do something, as "THEY HAD NEVER BEEN TOLD IT WAS WRONG" since they were a teenager. (The person was in her mid thirtys)

Thats how you get a moron throwing a chair through the window, he was having a tantrum.

All the CM's should get a raise when they have to deal with them.

A lot of the chair throwers and other types of virtual chair throwers get away with it because of enablers. Two examples.

A company I worked for had a branch manager in New Jersey who was a stone alcoholic. He held a staff meeting, something set him off and he destroyed all the conference room furniture and busted holes in the walls. Fired? No way! His branch brought in a lot of revenue so he got a promotion and moved to corporate where he eventually got fired after the company was hit with two sexual harassment lawsuits.

Another company, another branch manager. She sent out a racist joke via e-mail to all of her staff including two black SEs. Said SEs filed a complaint and the manager was sent home. Fired? No way! Even though the CEO said she should be terminated the area VP kept her because she also brought in a lot of revenue. The SEs were quietly bought off and the manager eventually moved to Marketing where she had no reports and hopefully a e-mail censor option.

Bonus example

I worked for a company that was absorbed by IBM (can you say BORG?). We got an influx of IBM staff including a new third level manager. We had lots of women instructors and support staff that were both married and single. The new third level hung back for a while but eventually started hitting on a few. All rejected his advances but started comparing notes. He finally hit on the wrong one, she went to HR with her story and the names of all the others. Fired? Finally, yes! Turned out he had played the same game at IBM but they decided to give him a second chance in a new environment. Us. Unlike the IBM HR weasels our people didn't play that game. He tried to transfer back to IBM but they decided they couldn't take a chance. AMF!

Sounds like a some of the private sector HR's have the "give them some more rope" type of set up, and as you mentioned some, that if they bring in revenue, they are golden. Eventually though I would suspect that even the revenue generators will have a "slump" and when there is no more income...trim the fat time!!

That's typical of any sales organization. As long as you're hitting 100%+ no one will, or can, say anything to you. Once production drops you're put on a plan and if that doesn't work it's time to warm up the resume.

Most sales positions are high risk high reward. Your hit your number you get good compensation. You hit stretch goals and the comp jumps dramatically. You sell your ass off and you get to go to sales club. That means all expenses paid trips all over the world to really cool places.

You bolo your number and it's buu bye.

Hitting those goals takes extra hours. Those not fired with enthusiasm will be.
