Why is this so hard to comprehend??? Ok, it is pouring down raining with thunder and lightening, and they still ask why the ride is closed??
My bf said that one time someone actually said this to him...
Guest: Why is the water play area closed?
Employee: Because there is lightening in the immediate area.
Guest: No there's not, there's no lightening, just thunder!

How do you respond to that???

I just love it when people ask "when is the rain going to stop?". It's like we're the ones making it rain. Of course, there are also the people who throw a fit because certain attractions can't opperate in the lightning and thunder. Um, hello?!? Rides shut down for a reason here. We don't do it to make you hate us.

That reminds me, one time I was working at my concierge desk and this guest (and I use that term lightly) came up to me and started yelling at me because it had rained the day before when he went to IOA. He told me there was some type of conspiracy because the minute he walked in the gate yesterday everything closed down. He said that everyone must have wanted to go on break or something because there was no reason for everything to close like that. I asked him if it was raining, and he said no, there was just a little bit of thunder. I tried my best to explain to this man why they closed the rides but he stormed away and said F*** Universal and F*** you! I must admit I was a little shocked at first but then I just started laughing at this guy's ignorance!

IT is so bewildering to me when Guests complain that things are closed due to severe weather, lightning and heavy rain. Don't they watch the Weather Channel stories or news and see how lightning kills more people than disease????

I have had Gues....I mean these idiots....stand under a metal awning with lightning hitting the buidlings around them in a mini hurricane storm (those in FL will understand what I mean) and they have the stupidity to ask why were not open (outside attractions and sometimes indoor), or for me to come and help them because their park ticket is jammed in a Fastpass machine because their ticket is wet or blows away in the wind and get mad when I say when it is safe to do so, I'll open the machine and get it out or issue a new fastpass.
Sorry folks I dont get paid enough to electrocute or kill myself for you. Get a clue you are the only idiots still standing in the open, have a nice day.

How do you respond to that??? :eek:Most sensible people would understand if you said, "What normally happens when you hear thunder?"

I was at WDW last week and Splash Mountain was closed most of the time I was there. I assumed it was because of the weather, so I asked a cast member at the ride if that was why. She said it wasn't. Was she pulling my leg or does Splash Mountain have other problems?

I first noticed that there was no water in the flume. This normally means BIG trouble, because I know of only three reasons to drain the whole mountain:

1. A leak. :(
2. A failure of two of the three big pumps (it takes two to keep the mountain wet).
3. There's a body in the flume.

Fortunately, it was the first of these. A water leak in a high pressure line that was spraying all over the flume and some of the animatronics. Not a Good Thing.

The leak was stopped fairly quickly, but it took quite a while to refill the mountain and effect a patch. It was still 101 when I left that night.

I am amazed at the reactions in the crowd outside Cinderellabration when the show is called off due to inclement weather. They shout and fume and are pretty nasty about it.

2 weeks ago they announced a performance was cancelled due to the rain that had begun to drench everything and I actually heard a male guest shout that his daughter want's to see Cinderella and she'd better see her now! One of the attendants cleverly told him that due to the weather and the value of her gown and jewels that Cinderella would be waiting to meet and greet all of her subjects safely over in ToonTown until the bad weather passed. That was just in time for the fireworks to be shot from the castle which seemed to appease the guest and he grabbed his little daughter's hand and ran to Toontown in the downpour!

If the weather is too dangerous for cast and guests alike, don't these people realise that it is in everyone'sw best intersts to cancel or close something down that could be hazardous to everyone? It's their vacation, but even Disney can't control the elements causing outside locations to close down for the time being.

Well Chuck, let me consult my super dopplar radar sitting behind me here. All indications point to when you leave this god forsaken place.
