View Full Version : ... I'm a Passholder!
So this happened to me today and I just wanted to see how many CM's have heard this before...
I was working @ Chip & Dale Point (the last CM position in the M & F Structure before you enter the Pinnochio oversized lot) and noticed a disabled placard on a car coming in from the pinnochio toll booth. I stopped the car and asked them if they needed Disabled parking.
The guest replied "Yes I'm a Passholder!"
Of course the first thing I thought was that even though we CM's dont hold AP's in high reguard I would never think of them as disabled!

One thing you have to remember is no matter which mouse house you're at, the phrase "You'll think you own the place" is taken to the max by these annual passholders (or annual passholes as many have come to call them, including myself). They believe that since they have that annual pass, they can tell us how to do our job, and if they don't get what they want, they'll cry and cry to guest relations like a four year old who didn't get that plush Mickey from the shop.
Cases in point:
-When I was over at Fantasmic before moving to G-Force Records, I had a guest come up to me and ask me where the annual passholders entrance was (Mind you, not even in a calm voice but a "Tell me now or I'll use this card to cut you!") so I simply pointed to the main entrance and said "See that walkway where everyone else is going? That's your entrance."
Guest: Well that's the main entrance, where's the annual passholder's entrance?"
Me: That IS your entrance, we don't have any other entrances (Then answered a call on my radio, thank God to so I could get away from her).
Minutes later, the manager at the entrance who was helping me came over, laughing might I add and asked me my side of the story, so I told her and then went on to further my point as to why I hate certain APs
Second one:
This one actually happened just last week. I was grouping over at Coaster and due to certain circumstances, we're unable to use two certain rows on one of the limos (Those who have visited us, you'll probably remember those).
Without confusing you, I basically lost track of where that limo was and loaded the two rows wrong then added in another group behind the first two groups. I realize my mistake and the only group that would be effected was the third group. So I kindly asked "If you three don't mind, could you move over here to these rows so you'll be riding together"
"We're annual passholders, why do we need to move?"
"Um, so you'll be riding together as a group..."
"Fine! Whatever!"
(In my head: Oh please you morons, all you had to say is no, I mean, I only asked "If you don't mind moving" all you had to say was "Yes we do mind")
So as the huff puffers are moving, the ring leader stops, leans over and looks at my name tag and I said "Sir, I'll even give you my personel number for when you do" (Knowing full well he had plans to go report me, but he never did, guess he never expected an reply like that.)

As an AP holder for WDW, I do not understand where other AP holders would get the idea that they have special privlidge or are above the rules that non AP holders have to follow. The only thing I can think of is that they feel so poorly about themselves that they have to say they are AP holders to make themselves feel important and improve their self esteem at the expense of the CM's and other guests.
I don't even think we have metioned that we are AP's in the parks unless we are asked and I am still wondering how saying you are an AP is going to get you better handicaped parking. :oweye:

OH dear lord... when I worked in Foods at River Belle, we were constantly bombared by such passholes! NUMEROUS times, people asked for french fries, and when I said "We don't have french fries, but the Stage Door Cafe right next door has them" they'd simply reply "Yeah but we hve annual passes!" OH great! Let me go heat up some oil for you right now and peel some 'taters!
My FAVORITE was the other day when I was toontown goofy, it was past time for me to head in, so i walked my line and all that, then skipped over to the toontown bank to go in. As i opened the door, i was grabbed by a guest who said "Get back here, we need a picture and our books signed." My host said "Goofy has to go get a drink of lemonade, but he will be back out in 30 minutes through the big red doors!" The lady said "You don't understand. We're passholders and my daughter has been wanting a picture with goofy." My host said "Where's your daughter?" "She's on Small World, so have Goofy wait out here." "Unfortunately, I can't do that ma'am, but Goofy will be back out in 30 minutes. Have a magical day!" "LISTEN to me. We have annual passes!!!" the lady was practically screaming. My host kindly replied "Small World is a long ride! He'll be back!!" and we left.

And people wonder why they're called passholes ...
I knew there was a good reason I quit.

I pray that I will never do anything that will cause a CM to refer to me as a passhole!

To clarify to non CMs there are Passholders and PassHoles also Cast Members and CastHoles as well....the later 2 terms I am refering to (CMA):
During the previews of Soarin' here in FL, we had our cast member preview for 3 days and the following week AP previews. Afterwards we soft opened until our grand May 5th.
I had two certain CastHoles from DRC Tampa who wanted to enter through the Fastpass Lane (Which was not operational until May 5) because they were CMs and were unable to get to the previews because they had other plans(even though the Eyes and Ears had advertised the dates for a month prior) so they were entitled to ride ahead of everyone else. ( RRRRIGHT, wrong answer thanks for playing heres you consolation prize! ) Then had the balls to say they were going to report me for denying them access, and the fact that they were handicapped (in ECVs) and had the right to use the Fastpass Line (worng again) anyway.
Basically you two I hope unemployment has treated you well (Yes they were terminated basically on the spot by our duty manager).
Same thing with the PHoles. Many were all demanding Fastpass access because that was the Passholder Line for previews (yes it was, the main queue was still being painted at that time and wasn't open)
Demanding row 1 because that was for passholders only. (did I miss that memo)
That their child under the hieght requirement could ride because they had APs.
That the Lounge upstairs was for them (not since 2000, because Aholes tore it up!) (Heard this from Nestle Employees also been closed since 98) and had a back door entrance (Honey it's on the third floor, Soarin on the first and two completely separte buildings if you find a backdoor from there, then by all means go ahead...did I mention to you the elevator no longer goes to the third floor...oops)
AND ON AND ON AND ON!
Never been harassed by an AP, but i should have gotten a cast member fired once, rolling into my film room, in a wheelchair, telling me to explain how the doors and the rolling ball work, because he was a cast member, too bad he looked like he was 14, and begged like a two year old for me to explain it to him. Anyway i stood my ground because the two girls he was with were not CMs, or were smart enough not to identify themselves as such. anyway, after the film, which he also protested to watching, i let him on his way and he started yelling bitch at me. I was too pissed to think of what to do about it. Someday he'll be back, then i'll have my cake, and maybe i'll just eat it too!

"Yeah but we hve annual passes!"
These are the same people the French would term "ugly Americans". Overheard while in Paris "why can't these people learn to speak English!" Translation: "I'm an American and think I am important. I will not be bothered to learn your languages - everyone else must learn mine."

Geez, I hate people like that. Those are the AP's I would tell off when I was an AP. I hated the ones who were giving us well behaved ap's a bad name. Oh well if someone comes up to me trying to tell me that AP's get this or that priviledge I will enjoy saying well I am an AP and I can tell you that no you don't! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! (cause my ap is still valid lol)

It's funny, here at my park (Legoland if you didn't know) there are special parking spots for people who have the "Ambassador Pass" which is a $1000 lifetime pass that allows them to get into all four Legolands for free.
If I get anyone that waves their card for anything other than their discounts I give them the blank "does it look like I give a f*ck" look

I will admit, I was an AP before I worked at Disneyland but I was NEVER the way the AP's are now. I always listened to CM's, respected them and actually looked up to them. Today, it seems like AP's are more of a cult in Disneyland. I always like it when AP's say I'm ruining "the magic" when I'm telling some other guest about cool facts and I always reply, "YOU have web sites that bash Disney, look into their political business affairs and much more and you don't think THAT'S ruining the magic?" "And, did I invite you into the conversation? (dont say it but think it)" AP's are a unique breed of people.

I always thought it would be so cool to have an Annual Passport. As kids my parents did the Zoo membership so we lived at the Wild Animal Park every weekend for years. I envied those I knew who had an AP now if I were to quit I would get one but you'd never know I was one.

My husband and I were in the main branch of the Credit Union and we ran into this other couple who used to work on the West side - as a matter of fact, he trained me on Rafts - anyway, they were laughing - it had been about 5 years since they had quit at that point and they said "yeah, we're about to become *them* - we're getting Annual Passes," which led to knowing laughter everywhere we were heard.
The thought of getting passes still makes me nervous - you don't want your former friend, along with people you don't know - to hate you for having a stupid piece of plastic in your wallet, but considering how badly behaved a significant percentage of the AP's are, it's a wonder all AP's at all parks aren't tarred with the same brush!

To be honest, most APs are not idiots, but there is a sufficient number of idiots to tarnish the image for everyone else. But I was a passholder for nine years, and I have tons of friends who are passholders, and I can tell you that simply being a passholder isn't going to make you a pariah among the cast members. Just like anyone else, cast members don't dislike you for being a passholder -- they dislike you for being a jerk who happens to own an annual pass.

Before I hired in most people (because they saw me often) thought I worked there. Then I had to admit....no I have an annual pass. I just happened to like studying at disneyland as opposed to a library. I always appreciated that the CM's I came to know got to know me for who I was and the fact that I had...errr...have and annual pass had no bearing on their judgment of me. I know for a while I was afraid to admit I had one cause of the bad behavior I saw exhibited by many others.
But I feel bad for the good AP's who are always well behaved and the jerks come in and ruin it for them. I think when you run across a jerk who has an AP all the good AP's should be allowed to beat the sh*t out of them for making the rest look bad. There's something to be said for positive peer pressure. lol :D:

I totally agree. There are some APs that are really nice, but there are APs that tell you how to do your job. Those are the ones that get on my nerve.

But isn't it the guests that are 'just guests' are the ones that you don't remember? And the guests that get on your nerves, could be (but not always) APers, tell you how to do your job, demand a discount, jump up and down and say they are a APer (like that should make a difference), are the ones you remember ?
Just like if I go on a ride and nothing special happens, I don't remember the name of the CM or (at the end of the day) what he/she even looked like. But if I I have a special request (like using a tri-pod at Fantasmic! at WDW), and the CM says "I can't let you unfold the legs." And I say, "Ok, no problem." And then 5 minutes before the show, that same CM comes up to me and directs me to an open handicapped area, and ;) . Then I ask for that CMs name, and make HUGE mention of her at Guest Relations as my wife and I are walking out.

The only way people know me is at places i frequent, Justin at splash, most of 2nd and 1st shift at critter country, the rancho del zocalo cast, and some fantasmic! gc leads, stay away from Gina! Jason is sometimes nice. but they know me souley on the times i have complimented them or rode their attraction soo many times in a week that they remember me. Oh and i still 2 finger point and answer any guest questions, watching set-up for Fantasmic, about 15 times, what is this, when is it playing, is this a good spot? never been mean to any cast or guest, and i guess it shows because everyone puts on a genuine smile when i come around. Boo bad APs, revoke their passes.

awwww.... I used to work with gina on the JC boy do I miss her.I remember one time at Pirates the white board was spattered with caricatures she had drawn of the cast. I wasn't represented, unfortunately, since I was still relatively new at the time and didn't have a reputation yet. But some of the ones she drew were hilarious -- she even put quotes above each one.

Theres nothing wrong with the AP's that carry that piece of plastic in their wallet. The ones that usually cause the problems have it around their necks or in their hands! I cant tell you how many times I've seen them drive through a parking lot or get on a tram with that pass in hand just waiting for someone to say something. I've had a lot of great experiences with passholders and if they were all bad we would've all gone crazy by now!
