Alright we alll know this is the start of our high season and it all begins with the arrival of the college spring breakers. This is a blessing and a curse for many of us. I am split between it being a blessing or a curse because already i have had a little of both.

Blessing : No offense to all the female cast members, in fact they may agree with me in a sense, but all the cute girls( and guys, for the ladies) around at this time makes you somewhat forget your in neon green pants with dinosaur prints on them, and you use your best to try to get to know them.

Curse: The fact that your spending spring break working w/ neon green pants with dinosaur prints on them as they look at you funnny.

Blessing : Going to Pleasure Island on a Thursday and meeting all of them and conversing with them and having a good time.

Curse: They come into the park the next day looking for rides we don't have

Case in Point:

SPG(Spring Break Girls): Excuse me where's the Jurrassic Park Ride
ME: That's at Universal, we have the Dinosaur Ride just head to your right and you ll get there.
SPG: But we wanna go on the Jurassic Park ride.
ME: We don't have that ride in WDW we only have the Dinosaur ride.
SPG2: Will they have it at MK ?
ME: No WDW does not have a JP ride , only Dinosaur. You need to go to Universal Studios, which is not a Disney Park, and is about 20 minutes that way if you exit Disney world and head East on I-4.
SPG: Oh, so where is that ride again.

Please tell me I'm not alone Misery Loves company.

back when I worked at the two local amusement parks during the summer they always opened up for spring break (which I still find amusing. New england during spring break isn't really that strong on the 'spring' part). It was fine if you were running an 'adult' ride, but try getting a chic's phone number when you are running the hamptons (those little cars that go around in a perfect circle and have annoying buzzers) or the kiddie bounce castle.

Although I did once get propositioned running a game. Some young lady (fairly attractive) said she'd do "anything" for the large stuffed animals my game had (they stood about 4 feet). And put a emphasis on the "anything"

Ok, AnglePR, first, take the questions you got and post them over in my topic (Here's Your Sign: The Disney Saga). If you don't know about it, read it and you'll understand.

Ok. Most of the CPs and other regulars at Coaster are always drooling and googling over the girls that come in. True, these girls are down right beautiful and deserve a look or two. However, unlike most of the other guys, my style isn't to do one of those "Grawsh, your purdy" that they do. I'm more one of those, "Tip your hat, give a hello and how are you?" and strike a conversation if they wish to.

There are a few males (Spring Breakers) who are cool and are mature for their age (Much like myself, Im WAY more mature than what I should be, but being that Im 18 and Ive been around the Marine Corps for 18 years...go figure). Then there are the idiots.

Case in point, I was at Unload when I had a kid get off and walk over to me and say (In a sratchy voice)"That's gay, that ride was too short."

And I figured, well, the only way he'll understand is to talk slow, "Ok, your in college, so anywhere from age 19-24, give or take, yet you have the mind to say something like that. With that being your possible age, have your balls dropped yet? (Or something to that effect, its been a few weeks).

Then there are those in the groups of 18 or more that want to ride together. If Im at backgrouper, I'll simply tell them, "Listen up! You guys will NOT be riding on the same ride!"

*Most of the guys are like Come on!* Then I'll tell them, either my way, or not ride! *Its strange that the girls are always like ok, no problem*

So when you finally get going, half of those kids dont go to the correct row.

But there are a lot of SBers that are fun to talk to. It's all just a hit or miss for us.

In front of Pleasure Island with me in the ticket booth:

"Is this City Walk?"
No, This is Pleasure Island... 7 night clubs and a street party atmosphere, where it's New Years every night
"Oh, Well, Where is City Walk?"
Uhm.. That's Universal..
"Oh, Do the Disney Buses take me there?"
No, The Disney Buses only take you around Disney Property
"Then why doesn't it take me to Universal?"
....because they are Universal, they aren't part of Disney.
"Oh, so how will I get to City Walk"
Take I-4 towards orlando and follow the signs
"Where do the buses pick me up at?"
The buses to the Disney Resorts and parks?
"no, to City Walk"
*jaw drop* We don't have busses that go to City Walk
"Oh, ok... How much is this Pleasure Island thing? I'll take 2 tickets.

In California there was a series of commercials for the Los Angeles County Fair that made fun of LA people's ignorance of anything not directly related to Beverly Hills. One particular one involved a couple of teen girls buying a sweater at some shop:

Girl one: What's this sweater made out of?
Clerk: Cashmere
Girl one: You mean from a cow?
Girl two: No, you're thinking of wool.
Girl one: A boy cow or a girl cow?
Clerk: Um, boy cow.

I thouight this was a joke until one day at DL Pirates, a couple of girls were sitting in a row on my boat with an enormous stuffed cow (literally about three feet long). Here is the conversation:

Me: Nice cow you have there.
Girl one: Thanks.
Me: What's her name?
Girl one: It's a "he."
Me: Uh, cows are female.
Girl one: Really?!
Girl two: Then where do baby cows come from?
Me: Uh, that would be a bull.
Both: Really?
Me: You come from Los Angeles, don't you?
Girl one: Yeah, why?
Me: I thought so.

The guy sitting behind them was laughing so hard I thought he was going to leave a puddle in the seat.

I'm trying to not laugh at that comment about LA. I was born and raised in Florida and even I got the question/comment.

I'm really trying not to, but I'll do it anyway.

Gee, thanks every so much for making me feel old!

*I* was born in Los Angeles. I grew up there. There was a dairy 1/4 mile from my house, and us kids watched *everything* that went on there. Oh yes we did. :cow2:

We weren't confused or grossed out by those films they showed in the sixth grade, either. We knew.

But now, living in Florida, I can't find a single person who will believe I grew up in L.A. around cattle. <sigh>

It's tough getting old. As they years go by, you've got more and more stories but less and less credibility.... :(

Zaz listen bra. Your not the only who has problems. Hell, everyone thinks I was born up north somewhere because of the accent I have (I don't see, er, hear the accent but whatever).

Tac onto that, the fact that every time someone asks you how old you are, and you tell them your age...then they say your lying (Why the **** ask if you're going to call me a liar!).

Listen, aside from the fact that I am 19 (Well, will be on Friday), people, even those I work with think Im like 22 (But in all reality, I feel like Im in my late 30s-40s, what with all the injuries Ive taken over the years from baseball)

Oh Zazu! When I was little we lived in Torrence and there was a dairy farm behind our street. I barely remember the older boys picking us up to look over the fence so we could see the "moo cows." And Cerritos, where my father-in-law grew up, used to be known as Dairyland! There was also a Cal-Va Dairy farm on 17th Street in Santa Ana - I remember going on a field trip there around the 2nd or 3rd grade and seeing (smelling) all the cows there - the little store building is still there (I just passed by there about a week ago) - the farm part is a mobile home park now.

We didn't move to O.C. until the beginning of 1963 - my father decided to move after the Cuban Missile Crisis - he thought that with all the oil refineries around the South Bay, that would be one of the first areas targeted by the Russians - so when we moved to Huntington Beach, it was like we were moving to the boondocks. I think the equivalent today would be someone moving from L.A. to Norco or worse yet, Baker out in the middle of the desert! Either way, So. Cal. is not the same - it's just too developed and yuppified in most places. At least old Fullerton still has some charm and integrity to it... :dog3:

You are kidding right? There's no open space where you are from Gilroy to Sonoma. Well, maybe a lot or so on cold Mt. Tam. Not sure NORCAL is the dark side, cold side would be more like it :D: Finest areas SOCAL has are the desert lands. Try Glamis or Salton Sea with toys. Nothing better :D: :)

Oh Zazu! When I was little we lived in Torrence and there was a dairy farm behind our street.Okay this is now officially scary.

I tell folks I'm from "L.A." because so few people know where Torrance is. I don't suppose there's any chance you're talking about the Rose Bud Dairy on Crenshaw and 182nd St. is there?

Cerritos, where my father-in-law grew up, used to be known as Dairyland!True dat! And what's now Westminster was then called Dairy Valley. Our first trip to Disneyland, my brother and I tried to hold our breath as we passed through (and nearly out) that place.

We didn't move to O.C. until the beginning of 1963 ... so when we moved to Huntington Beach, it was like we were moving to the boondocks.I remember when folks took the Red Car to get from Torrance to Huntington Beach. Way long time ago now.

I think the equivalent today would be someone moving from L.A. to Norco or worse yet, Baker out in the middle of the desert!Baker's not so bad. Try Daggett, where a friend of mine moved.

Either way, So. Cal. is not the same - it's just too developed and yuppified in most places. One of the reasons I left Manhattan Beach back in 1986 and moved to ... Chattanooga, Tennessee. Boy, talk about your culture shock. That town didn't even have frozen yoghurt!

OMG - we lived off of Crenshaw!!! :dropmouth You and I must have been neighbors and didn't know it! I will have to ask my mom the name of the dairy because I was only 3 when we moved. I believe we lived in the low 190's - I want to say 191st Place, but I'm not sure. That is just too weird Zazu. I don't know if you remember Vince Ferregamo who was QB for the LA Rams in their first Superbowl, but when I met him around that time, someone mentioned I was originally from Torrance, and he said he'd gone to Banning High, wanting to know what school I would have gone to, and it was North Torrance High I would have gone to if my father hadn't moved us.

178th St. for me.

You wouldn't have been on 191st Pl., as that would have been inside the Mobil refinery which is on both sides of Crenshaw north of 190th St.

Close though. <cue Twilight Zone theme>

Skunk Trains?? Awww... I was born in Marin county, and my parents took us over to the Skunk Train several times. Even though I last rode one when I was like seven, those memories are firmly ingrained. I think it's the name, it probably wouldn't so popular if it was called something like the Flower Train.

Looking on a map, I didn't realize it was almost a three hour trip. My parents must have been very patient to deal with three kids for that long without gameboys/ipods/whatever to keep us occupied.
